That one where he didn't realize the defender was touched by a lineman?

WTF? Why the f*** is the NFL doing this? Its an illegal play for sure, but thats WHY they call a 15 yard penalty during the game. Stop stealing money NFL.

Whats Next? 5K for holding? 10K for offsides? 15 K for kicking the ball OB on a kickoff and you hurt a camera man?

Growup goodell this isn't the MLS

Glad you wrote this, saved me the trouble.

Is the only thing that made the block illegal the fact that the defender was touched by a lineman? If so this is total BS. IIRC the defender was barely touched by the lineman and not engaged.

Stupid fine. I don't know BJGE's contract, but I expect this fine actually matters to him unlike it being pocket change to many other players.

No, that's the one where he went low on the defender and Matt Light switched to block the same defender while BJGE was going on..

Personally, it's absolute BS to fine a player for that situation.

Correct.

There was no way BJGE would know Light was going to shift because it was happening behind him.

Looking forward to the times where they hand out fines for a holding or pass interference call.

Nope,Offsides is the next penalty to be fined by Goodell and the League

A 3 game suspension and a $15,000 fine for jumping up early out of stance and putting your palm on a defenders jersey

This is the NFL "Political Correctness" run amok. The ONLY reason this penalty incurred a stiff fine is so that the NFL can say that they're NOT just fining DEFENSIVE players. That's it.

Goodell HAS to go, before he completely ruins this sport!

I don't know, in hockry you're responsible for your stick regardless of your intention. Chop blocks and high sticks can be similar in their result.

Goodell should have to pay this fine for BJGE out of his own salary because it is that idiotic. BJGE hasn't had a big payday yet, this is going to hurt him a lot and he should appeal this.

Speaking as a hockey player, that's BS. There are huge differences in the situation. With a high stick, you are the one who is supposed to have control. In the BJGE situation, he was LEGALLY going low when Matt Light (an entity that BJGE has no control over) switched targets. It was Matt Light engaging the defender that caused the Chop Block call..

it's clear that the NFL rules enforcers are taking a lot of these "hits" out of context...sorta like an ESPN type clip of the play...I know I've railed against this Omissioner ad nauseum but he really HAS screwed the pooch since they gave him the reins.

Then 'when in doubt' don't block low, block high.

Law Firm should be aware of the 'possibility' (of a nearby OLman engaging) when going for a low block. He had a duty to consider this possibility, this means, his mental approach needs to be tweaked. The fine is worthwhile for the message it sends .... 'Pay Closer Attention'.

I agree it was unintentional. When a player engages a low block, he should be responsible for it. Chop blocks end careers. Also, that penalty flag thrown on thew play could've cost us. It's a rule and they enforce it, mentally adapt.

I hope that BJGE appeals the fine and that if the appeal fails, that Matt Light steps up and pays it for him.

Listen, you just need to stop making up BS excuses and face that you are wrong about the situation. I'm gonna be honest and say that you've never played a game in your life where things happen in a split second because your going on like these guys can react in trillisecond. I'll also hazard that you've never been a 210 lb RB who has tried to take down a 260lbs LB. So,this garbage about "when in doubt, go high" is just that, garbage and spoken from a position of ignorance.

You're claim that BJGE should have known Light could have "potentially" fallen off his original block and moved to the outside rusher is just BS. Light was the one at fault. Not BJGE. BJGE was already in MID AIR when Light made the switch.. Light should have know that he had a RB going outside who would have picked up the outside rusher.

The FINE is BS and the fact that you continue to try and defend it is laughable.

You know what would piss off Goodell? If the fans paid the fine for green-ellis. 50,000 season ticket holders throw in 10 cents a piece there's your 5K!

I'd throw in a dollar for BJGE

I thought about that. Then I realized that he's still making way more this year than I will in the next 10:eek:
