No Fine For Sanders

Very pleasant surprise. I hope this bodes well for Pryor's appeal.

Benny did get fined though, which is even worse than Pryor's imo.

If Woodley played for NE, we'd all be howling about how it was "incidental", etc.. Could have gone either way IMO.

On the other hand, that cretin James Harrison should be suspended for diving at Brady's knees--it sure looked like the intent to injure was there.

We need Shmessy to post that Hines Ward Crying thing

The league did well on this one. Contact was there, but there wasn't any malice. Just incidental and a product of one player trying to make a tackle on another player.

Not surprised that Sanders didn't get a fine, more surprised that Chung didn't get one.

Was that the knee hit?

You can't fine the DPW!

I know I'm not the only one who's heart stopped when he went at Brady's knees. It looked all too familiar, I saw him take a shot to the knee and start to fall and then the camera panned. I didn't care about the pass I just wanted to see Brady.

but...but...but,Hines is cryin"..."O,The Humanity"

i hope you're joking....that late hit was nowhere NEAR incidental

the ball was out, and woodley STOPPED behind brady, saw the ball be delivered, THEN decided to throw a forearm right at the back of Brady's neck

nothing is at all questionable about that play

The worst incident in that game was Harrison going for Brady's lower leg. Thankfully he didn't make it but he was fully intent on hurting Brady.

But BJGE was fined for the chop block?
It only became a chop block when the OL reached out late and engaged high while the RB was set up low to cut the pass rusher. Otherwise a textbook cut block from the blocking back.
That's an odd call. It's like fining someone for stepping out of bounds.

These seem increasingly capricious.
If the fines become completely random, then there is no message.

Maybe "incidental" was the wrong word. More like kind of a ticky tack elbow or shove. No harm no foul. Brady just shrugged it off and didn't lobby for the flag IIRC.

Chung should got one for being an accessory to a concussion.

I'm glad to see the league do the right thing in this case. To me, it looked like a clean hit. Sanders didn't lead with his head and Ward was just tackled into Sanders causing the helmet to helmet.

Seeing it in a replay later, and already knowing Tommy came through unscathed, I recall Tommy talking about how not using proper technique led to his knee injury. Watching him fall, it appeared he fell "relaxed" the way people are taught to fall to avoid injury. Since it was also a completion it appeared to be a technically sound play all around, save for Harrison going low.

That wasn't even ticky tack either. Brady was full on drilled during that play. If you want an example of ticky tack, look no further than the Eagles getting a 15 yard roughness penalty for Trent Cole's hand brushing the back of Manning's helmet.
