Couldn't stop laughing at this. Just thought I'd share it for the people who didn't see it.
It was in one of the interviews I saw on my iPhone, so I don't have the link. Maybe someone else can post it.
Here was Belichick's sly, mumbled joke, told with a straight face as he looked like he was trying to hide a smile.

Reporter: I know you probably wish you could play crappy teams every week but -

Belichick: There are no crappy teams in this league...

Reporter: Well, that's true but -

Belichick: ... Just ask the Giants.

"I don't get it." -> Cowboys beat the Giants.

That's exactly the point.

At the time the Giants were considered to be one of the best, if not the best team in the league.

At the same time the Cowboys were considered to be one of the worst (crappy), if not the worst (crappiest) team in the league.

Hence ... 'ask the Giants if there are any crappy teams in the league'.

Make sense now?

The Giants were a hot team, won many games in a row, and were considered the best in the NFC (aka a great team). The Cowboys were tied for the second worst record in the league at 1-7 (aka a crappy team). Yet, Dallas crushed the Giants....

I flove BB so much. He has the most perfect kind of sense of humor, dry and deadpan.

It makes me shake my head to read the media consensus that he is boring. Look a little closer, fools, he's anything but.

eta: I don't think the OP didn't get it....I think he was posting an explanation for those who might not get it. I could be way off though.

I actually think that was a shot at the Cowboys. i.e. They are not a crappy team--though they were one of the crappiest before they beat the Giants.

Yes, it definitely was.

This forum requires detailed explanations for any jokes or offhand comments. The intelligence and comprehension level is often far below a high school level for some posters. I assume this is a constant among sports forums, but sometimes it's a little depressing.

what.....?

If I was trying to be funny, I would have included an explanation of the joke, for those who didn't understand it.

Then I would have included an explanation for the explanation of the joke. For those who still didn't understand it.

I guess I should have included an explanation.

Irony is a wonderful thing.

I think the final sentence of the post was an explanation for those who didn't "get it." Otherwise, why would he have started the thread around that quote in the first place?
