We all know Borges loves to rip BB and the Pats but sometimes his observation reach new levels of stupidity. In this weeks report card (vs Steelers) he gave the Special Teams a C- grade with the following comment:

"Zoltan Mesko’s net punting was only 31.8 yards per attempt. Not what we’re looking for, unless we’re looking for trouble."

Patriots-Steelers Report Card - BostonHerald.com

While I think we all agree 31.8 is not a great net this is where stats lie. Mesko had 5 punts which were as follows:

1) Punted 40 yards into the end zone. TB back to the 20. Net 20 yards.
2) Punted 53 yards to the Pitt 6. Returned 12 yards. Net 41 yards.
3) Punted 30 yards to the Pitt 14. Fair Catch. Net 30 yards.
4) Punted 50 yards to the Pitt 23. Returned 10 yards. Net 40 yards.
5) Punted 28 yards to the Pitt 11. Fair Catch. Net 28 yards.

So the Pats will be in trouble if he continues to make the opponent start drives on the 20, 18, 14, 33 and 11. I watched the game and thought Mesko was great. Took me 5 whole minutes (if that) to research how good Mesko's day was. You would think that if someone PAID you to follow the Pats and write about them you would make a little effort to report accurately on how they actually played. Of course, I am talking about King DB himself.

Bogus is drinking again, one should never drink and write if its going to be viewed by the public.

I admit, on the post game shows I'll listen to anyone to a point. When he comes on, I flip the channel. He has absolutely no credibility.

the hair dye/shoe polish from his **** Radatz Hair Coloring collection is seeping into his brain again.

Me too, when i see his face i just move on most of the time. Every once in a while i'll listen out of morbid curiosity but it always turns out the same way...hes an Idiot.

Lazy work by a hack who used to be relevant. That's just embarrassing.

If every punt Mesko had was the better of either (a) a 40-yard net, or (b) a fair catch at the ten, it would have added a whole 14 yards to Mesko's total - or less than three more yards per punt. Mesko's new net under those circumstances would now be 34 and change; would that still be unsatisfactory?

Regardless, is it possible to go just one week without a 'I hate Borges/Felger' thread? If you don't like them then don't read them or listen to them.

The man is simply irrelevent.

As long as people keep giving him clicks, reading his crap, and posting about it here, this statement is entirely false.

No reason for him to jump on Mesko. He is fine. Where he might have a gripe is with the kickoff coverage which could be a lot better.

Since when is Borges part of "we" as in 'Not what WE'RE looking for, unless WE'RE looking for trouble.'?"

What a sack of c-r-a-p.

he is so far from "we". you can't get any further away.

as far as threads about morons in the media, i can't stomach the morons, but i do love to see their idiocy brought to light and going "walking dead" on their moronic carcasses.

Once again, I still have no idea why you guys listen to and read these people if they piss you off so bad. Put down the sports page in the morning and listen to music when you're in your car.

Three of those had no way of being long punts.

Borges, Felger, Mazz, Gresch ... :bricks:

Why do you read him?? Seriously, why do you read him??
I do not recall the last Borgie column I read. He's a bit of a slimey sleazy character and I have no respect for him or his views so therefore I do not read any of his columns on any of his topics. Why do you???

Ron should stick to writing about boxing and trying to beat up elderly guys who walk with canes...

This is one of the best posts I've seen in some time. I missed Borges belittling the punting, but I remember watching Mesko's booming hang time punts, and being pumped. Wouldn't you know that is the game Borges rips the guy. Dang that guy knows so little about so much!!!! Great find on the post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mesko has been very very very good for the Patriots. The upgrade from Hanson to Mesko cannot be understated. The kid looks like he has control of his punts, Hanson rarely did.

Not only does he have control of his punts, he has control of the errant snaps that seem to come his way every game. The guy has been gold. I agree with those who say don't even read Borges. I never do and I never listen to him on the radio. Whoever employs him to comment on the Pats should be embarrassed.
