BJGE ran for 87 yards last night, the most yards any RB has gained against Pittsburgh this season.

Pittsburgh has the #1 run defense. They are allowing 2.8 YPC.

BJGE averaged 4.8 yards.

But I guess we will continue to hear more about how he is a JAG, an unimpressive back, or this or that. He had one dropped pass last night (4 for 5, 36 yards) and some posters were vitriolic about that. Or maybe it was the OL.

BJ is a good runner;

but the O-line was on fire last night, pass and run, BJ had some nice holes all night long

would also like to point out that BJ needs more consistency, great to close out against the vikes and steelers, sucked against the browns w/o a vaunted D

also, if i am not mistaken, he was saved primarily for the 2nd half....not a whole game back?

Mankins being back had nothing to do with his success?
The success of the passing game had nothing to do with his success?

Perhaps you are one of the group of folks who think that we already have our Number 1 go-to running back for the the forseeable future. For the rest of us, one of the highest priorities in the offseason will be to upgrade the team at the running back position.

The OL deserves the majority of the credit on this one. BJGE had some huge holes to run through. On some occasions he wasnt even touched until he had already ran for 6 or 7 yards.

It wasnt like he was breaking tackles at the line of scrimmage to gain these yards. He did run pretty hard though, but most of the credit goes out to the OL

A lot of those yards were from short passes, were they not?

Better not forget Alge Crumpler here either, he had a whale of a game blocking with the big guys for BJGE. He tossed a few guys out of the way and opened some nice lanes. He has really been an unsung hero for this team, and picked up a nice 1st down grab to boot.

Crumpler is a hero, but NOT an unsung hero. He was named one of the team captains after Faulk was put on IR.

But, yes when blocking is discussed, Crumpler (and Grankowski) should also be given kudos.

Knowing that Denver just put 49 points up against the Chiefs yesterday, I meandered over to see how our old friend Maroney did - - - he was not even activated for the game.

Just throwing it out there - - what happens if McDaniels cuts him and we pick him up for the PS? We keep the 4th rounder. Might not be a bad idea for the practice squad in case Fred Taylor can't get off the DL. He does know the system.

After how the drafted and undrafted rookies are performing, the Moss larceny and possibly this, BB could get arrested for pickpocketing this year.

Hopefully BJGE gets better next year otherwise I believe we need to get better in our RB Dept.

Give him an opening and he's a beast. The play where BJGE took the pile with him was his:rocker:

He's played way too much to be eligible for the PS. Also, NOT gonna happen. We got us a SICK #39 now. Screw the old one.

Maroney is not PS eligible. Surprised that you even mentioned it..

OK, but what if Fred Taylor can't get off the DL?

Do we go to a street FA or bring in someone who at least has some knowledge of our system and the OL?

(BTW, I bet Deus Irae must be gnashing his teeth down to the gums reading all this :D ).

Huh? He is a running back. We're talking about his rushing numbers.

I didn't know if people defending him would bother to omit those yards or not. ;)

Indeed.

I don't follow the college game like I used to, so I haven't started breaking down the players for the draft yet. I'm just hoping that there's a lot of running back options this year. With the Patriots having what seems like 435 picks in the first 3 rounds of the draft, I'm hoping they take a couple of running backs during that time.

The New England Patriots offense was operating on all cylinders last night. As for the Law Firm, he rarely dances in the hole as opposed to a former New England Patriots running back now rotting on the Denver Broncos roster. It's nice to see BJGE active in the New England Patriots passing game.

I think Fred plays this week. Going to street FA's DOES seem to be working out ok, though.

We need a big back, Hillis-ish, in the draft, but I think we're ok until then.

BJGE is a team role player, which is exactly what we needed out of Maroney once it became apparent that Maroney was not who we thought he was, but Maroney could not even rise to the level of role player without fumbling the rock...

Let's not over sell or under sell Law Firm. We like him but he is what he is. Just like we won two superbowls with a dominant O-Line performance and Antwain Smith.
