Instead of "Cut Brady"... Cut Ingram!

Re: Instead of "Cut Brady"...

I'm not sure that cutting Ingram would be wise, as there aren't many alternatives, but I do agree with the original poster's sentiment. This guy is paid to snap a damn ball. He is paid very well. He was drafted over other talented players. He can't snap the damn ball with any accuracy. This is his ONE specialty, in being able to snap the ball ten yards; he probably practices snapping the damn ball ten yards a thousand times a week. Why is he consistently rolling it in there!!! This is the most specialized position on the team, but it seems that Wilfork would probably do a better job and free up a roster spot, as I'm not sure anyone could do any worse. Something is wrong.

This is like a professional hot dog eater who is allergic to pork.

Re: Instead of "Cut Brady"...

Honestly, don't even really pay attention to the long snaps.

However, is this guy REALLY that bad? How the hell did we miss on the ONLY long snapper taken in the draft we took him in? That's pathetic.

Re: Instead of "Cut Brady"...

Anytime I see a 'cut/fire this guy' thread, my first thought is 'okay, who are you going to replace him with that is an improvement'?

For all we know Ninkovich could be worse, but the assumption is that he will be better. What happens if he gets knocked out of a game; who is the backup? Before you say it would never come to that, consider Welker kicked off today - and Suh's attempt at an extra point was the difference between a win and a loss for Detroit against the Jets.

You want to upgrade the long snapper position, fine. Show me somebody that is an upgrade and at the same time the team has a reasonable option at emergency reserve, and I'm on board. But if you're going to say 'get rid of this guy' with no plan on a replacement, then I'm tuning you out.

Belichick read this topic and agreed.

Seriously, just stop posting. If you didn't even notice Ingram's performance this season, then you have no right to comment on anything any Patriots player has done this year.

As I said, "show me somebody that is an upgrade and at the same time the team has a reasonable option at emergency reserve, and I'm on board. But if you're going to say 'get rid of this guy' with no plan on a replacement, then I'm tuning you out."

I didn't see one single suggestion until Katula was signed.

I have no problem with the Pats replacing Ingram. It's the 'let's cut/trade/fire this guy' comments that offer no better alternative that I find useless.

To be fair, I offered Ninkovich as an option.

You called him one of the most embarrassing picks ever by BB but didn't even really watch him play???

As for Katula, I read good things about him out of Ravens camp. But it's worth noting that he too had his struggles at one point. He was quite consistent for 3 years, which led the Ravens to sign him to a 5-year extension. But he played just 2 years of that deal before getting cut.

The good news is elbow tendinitis seemed to play a part in some of his poor snapping at the end of last season. From what I read, he had a solid training camp and looked back on track. Hopefully he can give us some consistency back there.
