Playoff ticket invoices ALREADY???

Just got notified by e-mail that payment for season ticket holder playoff tickets (two games worth) is due by Dec. 10. I can't recall for sure, but don't think I've ever seen it this early. I'm suspicious the team is trying to cash in now so it can start earning interest $$$ while the real prospect of Pats in the playoffs is still up in the air. Heck, we could be anywhere from 10-2 to 6-6 on Dec. 10. A suggestion to the Krafts: If you're going to do playoff tix this early, at least print up some nice ones instead of the generic Ticketmaster-style version we always get.

My first thought was the same; this seemed way earlier than previous seasons. But I checked my Quicken and saw that I made the playoff payment last year on November 20. So maybe it's about the same or so.

In other news....Bills, Vikings, Panthers and Cowboys season ticket holders did not get such an invoice.

Did not know that about them keeping your money though. That seems pretty wrong...

edit- I believe it just gets rolled over to your next season's tickets, so they aren't really stealing anything...

You're not wrong. But I think Pats fans probably have the best deal out of any season ticket holder in the league. Prices aren't THAT bad, the team is always good, and there are no PSLs or anything to deal with. At the beginning of the year when you set aside money for tickets, just include the playoff tickets with it so you aren't putting out extra money later and loaning it interest free, as you put it.

This is about the same time frame as usual, payment is usually due in early December so that they can get an idea how many tickets will be available for general sale and make the necessary arrangements. The cost of any unused tickets is applied as a credit to the season ticket holder's account (but not the service charges) toward next season's tix. I think I read somewhere that the league sets the price for post-season tickets but can't remember where I saw that. If so it would help to explain why our post season ticket prices aren't a huge increase over the regular prices since we're already paying close to the top in the league

They don't keep your money permanently. They just apply the leftover funds to next year's invoice. I think some people think it is some grand scheme to make profit off of the accumulating interest of all these early payments.

You got the decimal wrong. That's the amount for 6.6% interest.

The actual number (using your figures) is $0.48 per ticket. Think about it: 1% interest on $300 for a whole year is $3. So 2/3 of a percent for 3 months sure can't be $5.
