Pats D had a real tough time against a good RB and a scrambling QB this past week. Guess what they get to face this week? Same thing but a better version.

Hopefully the team will come to play and the speed of this young D will keep Tom in the game so they can steal one at the end.

To better understand, let me re-state.

We were demolished last Sunday.
We are facing a similar style offense with a better quarterback and better running backs.

And you expect us to win? Why? Is it that our offense is so poor a match for PITT's poor defense?

Do you think that our newly arrived kicker and deep snapper will give us the advantage?

Or do you think that the team will realize that the game against PITT REALLY counts, not like the game against Mangini's browns?

Pitt almost blew a 20 point lead in the fourth quarter alone to the Bengals, they have just as many holes as us.

What's with all the love for a team that starting show their age (what were they saying, average age of 30 last night?) with a bunch of nagging injuries, and no real upside that a young team has like ours?

Not only will PitsDirt blow us out of the ketchup bottle,
but their **** LeBeau (the best non-HC in football) defense
will pitch a shutout against our Pathetic road offense.

I honestly dont think we can look at last week's game. not only was the defense bad but offense and special teams were. That was one of those games that you cant count on to happen again.

We will play alot better even if the defense get's scorched I'm sure the offense and special teams will be okay. We fumbled on offense (more than likely for a TD) and fumbled on our first return and they scored off of that turnover. WE beat ourselves, we have beaten good teams this year and that was because we didnt turn the ball over.

If we take care of the ball, make plays we'll be fine. I dont fear the Steelers, Miami pretty much beat the Steelers.

I don't understand why some people feel this way before some match ups. It's like you've already accepted that they lost the game but the game hasn't even happened yet. We have the same record of 6-2. This is almost as frustrating as the people in the game threads that give up on a game in the 2nd quarter when we go behind by a TD. And yet people are 100% agreeing with you... :confused2:

When we did the predict the record roundtable at the beginning of the season, this was one of the games that I had as a loss (as I had the team going 12-4). I still feel that way. I think we match up well with Pittsburgh on offense for the same reasons we've traditionally matched up well with LeBeau's defenses: our short passing game and our potent screen games. It's on defense, and stopping Roethlisberger and Mendenhall where I have my doubts. That's where I think we'll lose the game.

That said, I'd LOVE to eat crow here next week.

I'm expecting a very similar game to last week and see no real reason to expect otherwise. Unless the Pats are +2 or more in turnovers the steelers should cruise. 30-17 or so with it really not being that close.

This OL will get Brady killed on Sunday

It could very well be ugly from start to finish

Another nagging nabob of negativism, in the immortal words of Spiro Agnew. Did you crawl and hide from everyone after Baltimore, Miami, and Minnesota, MOFO?

I swear . . .

The O-Line vs. Pittsburgh is one of the areas of the team that I'm looking forward to seeing vs. their pressure defense. Specifically how Matt Light (vs. Harrison) and Dan Koppen (vs. Hampton) hold up with Mankins in the line-up. Especially now that he has a game under his belt.

I agree Kontra, the O-Line must hold up well, and BB/Dante won't hesitate to mix and match lineman (Mankins, Connolly, Ojinakka) to get the most effective combo on the field.

Personally? I don't think we'll see all that much Connolly out there this weekend.

Idiots ignore things like a defense ranked in the top 5 in just about every aspect on defense vs. A defense ranked in the bottom tier area giving up 400 yards of offense a game and has been horrid on the road much of the past 2 seasons

It all equals a very likely ugly game for the NE pats unless PItt gives us the game on turnovers

IMO NE has no chance to win this weekend unless Pitt loses the game by giving the ball away ...straight up without turnovers and this game is a mismatch

If Pitt loses they will have lost the turnover battle, that's the only way NE walks out with a win on the road

The Pittsburgh passing defense leaves a lot to be desired. It's ranking bears that out.

Fair enough. It will be a tough matchup for sure, but I am always expecting and hoping for a win out of the Pats. If they happen to lose then they just have to learn from their mistakes and move forward. I hope that Browns game was a wake up call that will motivate them so they will train harder so that this Sunday is a win.

If this was in Foxboro, it would be close but in Pittsburgh I think this could be ugly. What is worse, I could see Welker or Woodhead getting killed.

I really hope I a wrong and that Bill has some magic in store....

I'm also not too worried about Mendenhall because we played very well against Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson. I know Peyton Hillis was a disaster but that guy is an animal and I'm sure they will make improvements before the next game.

You've earned entrance on my 'ignore' list.

Whats funny is I'm willing to bet that on any Steelers forum, they have a thread up just like this. About if the Pats could blow them out or pull of some crazy stuff to win this game. We've beaten the steelers what, 5 games to 1 or something in the previous games, i'm not that worried. No doubt they are a more complete team because of their defense but we are young and ready, they are older and will tire faster.

We can use this to our advantage... Short quick passes will surely be the Steelers problem in this game, mix it in with some run and screen plays with Woody and BJGE. keep them off their feet, have some confidence in your team!

This is the New England Patriots we are talking bout, right ?

Its football, the Browns were near last in wins and brought it to the league leaders, in 07 we were tops in everything and didn't finish on top. Its any given sunday and I like our chances the next two weeks, we can beat any team in the league and nobody here knows what it comes down to, Brady could throw 4 picks and maybe our D/ST pulls it out, or vice versa.

I think that the Steelers' O-Line is nowhere near as good as Cleveland's, especially with their starting LT going to the IR today and injuries to their C and LG.
