To all you semi-fans p!ssing and moaning about this loss, all I can say is" Get over it. So what? Big Deal? It happens.

Here's my view on it"

Me? I'm looking forward to the Patriots thumping the Steelers next week, and then creating a personal House of Horror for Sayton Maniing.

What's the big deal? We got absolutely CRUSHED by a team that was 2-5, harassed a rookie quarterback making his second start into only 5 incompletions, and allowed 185 yards rushing and 2 TD's when our defense was clearly geared up to stop the run. On top of that, our quarterback was missing wide open receivers all day and our primary running back once again looks totally inept. If it was just a loss, that would be one thing. But a 20 point blowout loss to a team that was three games under .500 is another thing entirely.

Guess what, the Browns are better than their record. AND THEY BEAT THE SAINTS, who then went on to beat the Steelers. Does this not matter for some reason? Are you just ignoring that because you can't let it into your pathetic world view that the Pats are the worst team in football?

So give me a damn break

Any legitimate 6-1 team executing like a 6-1 team should have easily been able to shut that offense down. The issues on defense, which have been masked the last couple of games, came home to roost today. And please show me where I've openly thought that this was the worst team in football. I would love to see that.

So are the Saints terrible too?

So are the Saints terrible too?

1. The Browns emptied the bag of tricks completely out in that game. So much so that they only had one for us. Multiple scores born out of multiple trick plays and Brees made some uncharacteristically bad decisions.

2. The Saints have been the very definition of Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde in the NFL this season, as was displayed in that game.

3. When did I call the Pats or Browns terrible? The Browns aren't terrible, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking that they're good.

4. Still waiting on the evidence to be presented showing me where I called the Pats the worst team in football.

But, of course, I hope that the Pats are the worst team in football. Of course I would gear all of my posts to such a slant. Hell, I only have 14,800 posts on here. I'm CLEARLY rooting against the team.

:bricks:

I guess while the haters are allowed any level of hyperbole I am not allowed even a little bit.

The patriots were 6-1 with a good reason on being that in several games the other teams were making mistakes on special teams and turnovers...take away STs and less turnovers by those teams and this team could be much worse record wise.

The browns limited mistakes and they won,if this team has to rely on other teams to cough up the ball to cover up the defenses problem of giving up big yardage and the offense sputtering, they could be in for a very rough second half.

Good teams usually clean up mistakes made early in the season and are better in that area as the season progresses...since NE plays against some pretty good teams ahead,it spells trouble.

It's the fact the Patriots should be improving as the season wears on. The New England Patriots as a team regressed today in all phases of the game against a third string rookie quarterback.

Tell me the last time a Belichick team had an easy time and a dominating win against a no name or rookie quarterback?

More often than not,Belichick teams have had a horrible time against QBs they know little about.

This is not the first time nor will it be the last that a patriots team makes a rookie or Joe shmoe QB look like Joe Montana

We'll never ever win another game again.

doesn't look like it...two DEVASTATING,CRUSHING LOSSES and six "so what, the other teams were a)weak, b)injured, c)unlucky, d)all of the above" wins...I guess all the most disappointed Pats fans should just....stop following the team and wasting their time and energy venting 24/7, move on and buy a set of green pom poms.

Pats weren't as good as everyone was saying last week and they're not as bad as everyone will say they are now. The league is nuts and no team is bullet proof. Let's see what happens.

This is exactly right. There is absolutely nothing positive to take out of this game. I'm going to go a little further.

This game serves as a reality check to the players and the rabid New England fanbase: This is a team that is trying to be an elite 2010 NFL team.

What I mean is that over the course of a game the offense can find itself sustaining drives, the defense can play with intensity, and the special teams can be, well, special. Today, however, was a different story. Today we saw a team that couldn't find rhythm on offense, couldn't stop anyone on defense, and a special teams that was a little less than special.

News Flash: A game like this was bound to happen. We have been either all offense to win (Moss games), special teams to win (Miami), or the defense stepped in to deliver the win (San Diego). Generally, one phase of the game carries the other phases of the game so to speak.

Today we likely saw the least prepared the Patriots will be for the rest of the season. I assume the coaching staff will use this opportunity to "coach up" the players, specifically the rookies, for next week. Hopefully the team will come out with a little more intensity and fire next week. The game next week is against another top AFC team and will likely have playoff ramifications regarding seeding.

What we, as fans, should do is "lick the wounds" so to speak, and just move on. The team played like poop today, and they probably won't play like poop next week. Let's remember this team is 6-2 and if it can start firing on all cylinders and start playing at a consistent level week to week, this team can find itself playing late into January.

Anyway, Go Pats!

Absolutely. The Colts lost to the Eagles today. The Jets had to go to overtime to beat the Lions. The Browns beat New England, and also beat Pittsburgh and New Orleans. The Raiders put up 59 on Denver.....

It happens. I'm not ready to hit the ejection handles yet. Not by a LONG shot.

I guess while the haters are allowed any level of hyperbole I am not allowed even a little bit.

Where is the hyperbole? Regardless, though, let's check each one of my points in this thread and see if they're factually incorrect...

1. "We got crushed". Yep. We did. 34-14 is a 20 point loss. I would say that's pretty crushing. Are you calling it a valiant loss?

2. "by a team that was 2-5". Hold on, let me check. Yep. The Browns were 2-5. They're now 3-5 after today.

3. "harassed a rookie quarterback making his second start into only 5 incompletions". Correct. McCoy had only started games against the Steelers and Saints. His numbers for today - 14/19, 174 yards. So yes, he had 5 incompletions. On top of that, his passer rating was higher than our very own Tom Brady.

4. "and allowed 185 yards rushing and 2 TD's when our defense was clearly geared up to stop the run". Indeed. Hillis actually ran for 185 yards and had 2 TD's. This was in spite of the fact that we often dropped eight into the box.

5. "On top of that, our quarterback was missing wide open receivers all day". Tom Brady - 19/36. Threw the ball at multiple receivers' feet including our 6'7" TE that was as wide open as it gets.

6. "and our primary running back once again looks totally inept". BJGE - 9 attempts for 14 yards. Literally ran up his man's ass in the open field. Was sat for Danny Woodhead who managed 54 yards on the same amount of carries. Yep, I would say he looked inept.

7. "Any legitimate 6-1 team executing like a 6-1 team should have easily been able to shut that offense down.". Indeed. Rookie quarterback in his third start that has not been handed the entire offense and is expected to manage the game. A running back who has 29 attempts as the team clearly tries to keep the quarterback away from having to win the game. Our defense was clearly geared to stop the run... and still couldn't do it.

8. "The issues on defense, which have been masked the last couple of games, came home to roost today". 17 second half points which were not the result of boneheaded mistakes.

9. "And please show me where I've openly thought that this was the worst team in football. I would love to see that". Still waiting...

The Browns aren't terrible, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking that they're good."

^^^ I would love to see you deny any of that.

So please, tell me which part of my argument is factually incorrect. Are you denying that the defense played like garbage against an inferior opponent? Are you denying that the offense did the same? Are you denying that our first string running back had an awful game and was outplayed by our 5'9" undrafted third down back? Are you denying that we lost this game by 20 points? Are you denying that we couldn't harass Colt McCoy into any mistakes? Are you denying that we couldn't stop the run? Please, show me where any of this is incorrect. And, if it is correct, how is all of this something that we shouldn't be worried about?

Now, either confront my points or shut the f*ck up.

Indeed. We played sound, mistake-free football for the last few weeks and survived in San Diego. Today wasn't the case.

The browns limited mistakes and they won,if this team has to rely on other teams to cough up the ball to cover up the defenses problem of giving up big yardage and the offense sputtering, they could be in for a very rough second half.

I think it's something much worse. I think we came in gameplanning to stop the run and force the ball into McCoy's hands and we still couldn't stop Hillis. It's rather alarming when you drop 8 into the box and Hillis is still breaking big gains to the outside. Equally alarming is that we moved Wilfork to LDE to try to funnel the runs up the gut, and they saw just as much success running that way. We never got to the point where we could force the ball into McCoy's hands and, thus, never forced him into mistakes.

Good teams usually clean up mistakes made early in the season and are better in that area as the season progresses...since NE plays against some pretty good teams ahead,it spells trouble.

Hopefully they can clean up mistakes. Supposedly, Wilfork stated that the team had a pretty bad week of practice. It showed today.

But a 20 point blowout loss to a team that was three games under .500 is another thing entirely.

In 2003, the Pats lost 31-0 to a team that went 6-10 while the Pats went 14-2 and won the Super Bowl. In 2007, the Giants got blown out 41-17 to an 8-8 Vikings team on the way to a Super Bowl win. In 2006, the Colts got blown out 44-17 to an 8-8 Jags team on the way to a Super Bowl win. In 2004, the Pats lost to a 4-12 Dolphins on their way to a 14-2 season and Super Bowl win.

Losing big to a bad team (and the Browns are better than their record) doesn't eliminate you from Super Bowl contention. Several Suoer Bowl team over the last decade including the Pats have gotten blown out by teams without winning records only to go on to win the Super Bowl. Besides, eight weeks from now, the Browns might be an 8 or 9 win team.

Aye. Neither am I. But it's not like there isn't anything to worry about here. Several issues were exposed today.

Wilfork put it perfectly. The team did not practice well, and it showed in the game. Until next week, I'll assume it was all just a trap game:cool:
