I guess while the haters are allowed any level of hyperbole I am not allowed even a little bit.
Where is the hyperbole? Regardless, though, let's check each one of my points in this thread and see if they're factually incorrect...
1. "We got crushed". Yep. We did. 34-14 is a 20 point loss. I would say that's pretty crushing. Are you calling it a valiant loss?
2. "by a team that was 2-5". Hold on, let me check. Yep. The Browns were 2-5. They're now 3-5 after today.
3. "harassed a rookie quarterback making his second start into only 5 incompletions". Correct. McCoy had only started games against the Steelers and Saints. His numbers for today - 14/19, 174 yards. So yes, he had 5 incompletions. On top of that, his passer rating was higher than our very own Tom Brady.
4. "and allowed 185 yards rushing and 2 TD's when our defense was clearly geared up to stop the run". Indeed. Hillis actually ran for 185 yards and had 2 TD's. This was in spite of the fact that we often dropped eight into the box.
5. "On top of that, our quarterback was missing wide open receivers all day". Tom Brady - 19/36. Threw the ball at multiple receivers' feet including our 6'7" TE that was as wide open as it gets.
6. "and our primary running back once again looks totally inept". BJGE - 9 attempts for 14 yards. Literally ran up his man's ass in the open field. Was sat for Danny Woodhead who managed 54 yards on the same amount of carries. Yep, I would say he looked inept.
7. "Any legitimate 6-1 team executing like a 6-1 team should have easily been able to shut that offense down.". Indeed. Rookie quarterback in his third start that has not been handed the entire offense and is expected to manage the game. A running back who has 29 attempts as the team clearly tries to keep the quarterback away from having to win the game. Our defense was clearly geared to stop the run... and still couldn't do it.
8. "The issues on defense, which have been masked the last couple of games, came home to roost today". 17 second half points which were not the result of boneheaded mistakes.
9. "And please show me where I've openly thought that this was the worst team in football. I would love to see that". Still waiting...
10. "1. The Browns emptied the bag of tricks completely out in that game. So much so that they only had one for us. Multiple scores born out of multiple trick plays and Brees made some uncharacteristically bad decisions.
2. The Saints have been the very definition of Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde in the NFL this season, as was displayed in that game.
3. When did I call the Pats or Browns terrible? The Browns aren't terrible, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking that they're good."
^^^ I would love to see you deny any of that.
So please, tell me which part of my argument is factually incorrect. Are you denying that the defense played like garbage against an inferior opponent? Are you denying that the offense did the same? Are you denying that our first string running back had an awful game and was outplayed by our 5'9" undrafted third down back? Are you denying that we lost this game by 20 points? Are you denying that we couldn't harass Colt McCoy into any mistakes? Are you denying that we couldn't stop the run? Please, show me where any of this is incorrect. And, if it is correct, how is all of this something that we shouldn't be worried about?
Now, either confront my points or shut the f*ck up.
