Relax, Don't Panic, It's not as bad as it seems

Re: Relax, Don't Panic (SENSIBLE FANS WELCOME)

I am not saying we are the best, or that we WILL win these games. I am just saying that we sure as hell have a chance. What was wrong with anything I said?

nothing is wrong but when **** like (sensible fans welcome) are thrown into you're thread title it makes you look like an elitist of sorts. Just ignore the ridiculous troll like comments and move on. And with the way the team played today (and over the season for the most part) what have they shown to make you think that another early playoff exit shouldn't be expected. We are still wildly inconsistent.

Re: Relax, Don't Panic (A hopeful, but reasonable, critique)

This season has all been gravy so far. I was just hoping the Pats would put up a fight against good teams, defend their home field, and not embarrass themselves by blowing 4th quarter leads like last year.

With the youth on this team, anything over .500 would be great.

Re: Relax, Don't Panic (A hopeful, but reasonable, critique)

The team was 6-1 before this game. That is an amazing feat considering how many rookie the pats have. It was only a matter of time before having all these rookies, and their mistakes, would be a large part of costing the pats a game. Today it did.

What concerns me is the next four games. I am glad they have a 6-2 because I would be lying if I had a good feeling about the Steelers and Colts games.

Re: Relax, Don't Panic (A hopeful, but reasonable, critique)

concerns.....sure.....name me a team in the NFL that hasn't had concerns at times this year?

bad game......NO SH*T

does it hurt more cause they were 6 - 1....(the best record in the NFL) with teams you needed to lose last week....lose....just to get the mark.....YEP BIG TIME

young players making mistakes.....there were a lot after some good days. that's what you get with young players.

NOW.....do i think this is the best wake up call for a young team.....YES SIRRRRR!!!!!!

message goes something like this: "told you guys.....this league isn't easy. You have to be ready to play week in and week out. I told you you're not that good...and you didn't believe me. Well, it was just proven to you."

Something like that will work just fine heading into a BIG 4-game stretch.

Bright side.....last time the Pats lost to a team that was 4-games under 500....back in 2004....the monday night game in miami when quite frankly....they didn't look good. I'm by NO means comparing this team to 2004....the larger point is even GREAT teams have bad days in the NFL.

Loss stings.....season aint over and 3 of the best teams in the conference are still on the schedule and the Pats get 2 of them at home. LOTS of FOOTBALL to be decided.

I predicted 11-5 for the season.

Makes no sense to predict 12-4, 11-5, 10-6 and then complain and rip the team apart when they lose. There's not a ton separating the good teams vs the weaker ones when the good teams are playing at the weaker teams backyards.

Also ... I am a firm believer in losing makes an already good team stronger when the coaching staff knows how to use it.

Lastly ... division opponents and past coaches from the Belichick tree will always be tough games ... it is what it is. The best record in the league is 6-2 and we are among a few that have that.

A good week of practice is the next step ... the season is long and the dips and bumps are part of it.

My son had a soccer game at 1:30 today and we had to drive 45 minutes to get there ... so I was spared the imagery of the day. I'm one of the homers here who has a realistic view of the team ... I think we're still a playoff caliber team but we will have to be peaking at the time to make it to the AFC championship game at least. We don't have enough veterans to be consistent from game to game.

Maybe this will be like touching a hot stove to the youngin's and they'll learn not to do it again. Now if you'll excuse me i'm going back to watching "Skillet Tossing" on the Weather Channel

The Pats had a bad game. Doesn't mean they will go 2-6 the rest of the way. They were trending up prior to this game and until they prove otherwise you can chock this up to a game where they had a letdown and didn't show up to play looking past the Browns towards the Steelers next week. If the next few games the Pats put up similiar poor showings, then there is reason to panick.

The Pats beat Baltimore who has beaten every good team they have faced and only lost to a bitter division rival for their only other loss.

Come on guys, just take a moment and relax.

The bright side is we have the talent. That is obvious from our season so far. As long as we don't make stupid mistakes we can beat anyone. The simple mistakes on all sides of the ball killed us today.

We are 6-2, the same as last year at this exact point with the toughest challenges coming up right away.

But you know what the difference is? Last season we were troubled from the start. It was obvious from the beginning that we had intense problems on the road, in the 2nd half, etc. We were lucky to beat Buffalo, and Baltimore and we padded our wins against terrible Titans and Tampa Bay. When it counted that team blew it.

This year is different. We have been good on the road. We EARNED the tough wins in Miami and against Baltimore. The Vikings game was a great performance all around. The Chargers win was a bit of luck but we pulled it out with a couple clutch drives and stops showing we are a great team. We have been fantastic with half time and on the fly adjustments. We have a defense with new blood, one that has shown that they can be a top defense. They just need more experience. The rookies made mistakes, it just sucks that they made them all in the exact same game. We were due for a let down since our team has been playing out of their minds for 5 weeks. The bright side is that this loss makes them feel mortal again and not full of themselves, and allows BB to kill them in the practice and film room.

Heads up: OUR ROOKIES ARE GREAT. Don't you dare give me any draft bust talk in here. The 09 and 10 drafts look very nice. Hernandez came to play today. Gronk has shown us in other games that he is for real. McCourty has true talent, have you seen that interception during the Vikings game? And the one in the Chargers game? How about Cunningham and Spikes playing shut down? And Crable (not really a rookie but...) of all people isn't looking bad. Don't forget the Space Emperor too.

This team has the potential to do what last year's team couldn't, and that is prove they are for real. To prove they are clutch. When it counted last year's team feel apart, whether it was against a good team or in the 4th against a bad one. This team has pulled it off in the 4th against great teams already. They can, and will, do it again. And again. If they can win in this stretch coming up then we can beat anyone. Just remove no more than a couple mistakes today and we are feeling great about being 7-1 and the best in the league. And all the haters are breaking out their pink hats. Just don't make mistakes and we are alright.

PS: The browns beat the Saints BADLY IN New Orleans and the Saints responded with a victory over the Steelers. Sound familiar?

In general I agree. We know the defense is young and there are going to be days like today. What is disturbing is that we have a QB who is playing with as much consistency as any rookie on this team. Brady was not ready to play today. It was clear in the 1st qtr he was off. Bad throws even when he had plenty of time. It was San Diego all over again. That's a big problem going forward. This offense needs Tom Brady to step up and lead. Brady needs to show up for 60 minutes. Hasn't happened yet this year. That has me more concerned than anything.

We're 6-2, tied for the best record in the NFL. How can anybody not be happy with that?

What really sucks is that the Jets won, though.

As other posters have pointed out: A) This team is young and therefore will be prone to mistakes and B) the Patriots are a team that must play turnover free/mistake free football to have a good shot at winning.

The Patriots cannot turn the ball over when they are about to score a TD in the final seconds of the first half. They cannot fumble and give the ball up in their own red zone. They cannot drop passes that kill drives. They cannot commit penalties that kill drives.

Separate from that, the Patriots -- as just about any team -- cannot allow that kind of running success against them and expect to have a good chance at winning.

We wen't 16-0 where did that get us? Im enjoying the season but Im not going around puffing my chest out at being 6-2 the only game that truly matters is played in February any game other than that is a stepping stone we just took a big step back IMO. Not saying that Im not happy with what has transpired this season just that Im not harping on it.
