Week 9 Games

Patriots (6-1) at Browns (2-5) -- Will BB and EM shake hands?

Jets (5-2) at Lions (2-5) The Jets suck. For details see http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/10/336852-jets-suck-merged.html

Dolphins (4-3) at Ravens (5-2) - Dolphins are division rival so I want them to lose. But the Ravens are more of a threat for homefield/byes. This one confuses me. I am going with the Dolphins.

Chiefs (5-2) at Raiders (4-4) - The Seymour pick.

Saints (5-3) at Panthers (1-6) - Our second round pick.

Cardinals (3-4) at Vikings (2-5), -Our third round pick. Plus laughing at the Vikings has become a new hobby for me.

Steelers (5-2) at Bengals (2-5) - Steelers are only a game back, and the Bengals can catch the Raiders.

Bears (4-3) at Bills (0-7) - Bills need to win a couple to get out in front of Oakland, Vikings and Panthers. Okay I have lost hope on them getting ahead of Oakland. But at least the Panthers.

Buccaneers (5-2) at Falcons (5-2) -- Two best teams in the NFC. Only game I have absolutely no rooting interest in. Weird.

Chargers (3-5) at Texans (4-2), Texans have the better record and we have tie breakers over SD.

Colts (4-2) at Eagles (4-3) - Manning is over rated.

Cowboys (1-6) at Packers (5-3), While laughing at the Cowboys is almost as much fun as laughing at the Vikings. I don't want them picking before our traded picks.

Giants (5-2) at Seahawks (4-3), Eff you Tyree. (yeah, I know he ain't on the team anymore)

Byes: 49ers (2-6), Broncos (2-6), Jaguars (4-4), Rams (4-4), Redskins (4-4), Titans (5-3)

Interesting contrast here, that you're worried enough about one 5-2 team that you'll root for a division rival, but you don't even mention playoff seeding with the next 5-2 team. Don't believe much in the Chiefs, I take it?

Could you not also say, "eff you Pete Carroll"?

I mostly agree, though I don't like the idea of a 5-3 Dolphins team in the AFCE. Something about the Dolphins being in the hunt for the AFCE title makes me uneasy.

Even more so I don't believe much in the Dolphins.

I don't hold any ill will towards, clueless Pete.

Cardinals (3-4) at Vikings (2-5), -Our third round pick. Plus laughing at the Vikings has become a new hobby for me.

Only one I disagree with. I want the Vikings to win because then they would move further away from the top of the draft order.

Of course, I love seeing Favre lose, so not all is lost =)

One quick note: Colts are now 5-2, Texans are now 4-3.

As I recall there were several games last week that were difficult to pick which team to root for; not so many this week.

Dolphins-Ravens is a tough one to pick. Which is more likely to happen: Miami finishing ahead of the Pats in the AFCE or Baltimore finishing ahead of the Pats in the AFC, where both teams are division winners (or both are wild cards)?

There's a few games which are of double interest for Pats fans, where we want one team to win so they finish with a better record than Oakland, Carolina and Minnesota for draft order purposes while at the same time we want the opponent to lose for the purpose of division or conference standings:
Lions > Jets
Cardinals > Vikings
Bengals > Steelers

Bears - Bills game is a tough call. On one hand you want Buffalo to finish with a better record than Carolina, but on the other hand you also want to make sure Chicago finishes with a better record than Oakland and Minnesota.

Until SD passes Oakland we need for them to win. However, if given the choice I think I'd rather play Houston than the Chargers in the playoffs.

I think I'd go with Tampa Bay over Atlanta simply because I see more of a chance of the Bucs falling apart and being surpassed in the standings by Oakland than that scenario happening to the Falcons.

I think Minny can still go 8-8. I'd rather have my first rounder higher. We'll probably deal their 3rd for a 2nd in 2012 anyway. I think Oakland might finish at 8-8. So, we want as many teams as possible at 8-8. Most will have tougher schedules than Oakland. I don't see Arizona doing anything in the 2nd half.

Shouldn't we be worried about winning the division before home field

Beg to differ with the lead post. The Bucs and Falcs are not the two best teams in the NFC. Gotta go with the Giants here--and maybe later the Saints and Packers.

It's all kind of circular, isn't it? If the Dolphins can beat the Ravens, then they're probably a legit team we want to put out of reach in the division. And if the Ravens CAN'T beat the Dolphins, well, maybe they're not as elite as we think. But if the Ravens do beat the Dolphins, then we'll really wish the Dolphins had won to de-fang the threat that is Baltimore. :p

5-3)

I like most your picks. Although, I'm cheering for Texans to win this one. I think the Chargers could be far more dangerous in the playoffs than the Texans. I don't want to see SD again. Plus I wouldn't mind seeing Texans win their division over the Colts.

That make a lot of sense. I think I am gonna root for a tie.

Falcons to win. Roddy White 150 yards 2 Td and Gonzalez 80 yards 1 Td for my fantasy team. :)

I hate the Chargers so im always rooting against them, Hope the Jets take another L this week.

OK. So I want whoever wins to have lost.

Exactly! :D

I was just joking around, but it really is hard to judge competitive rooting interests at this point in the season. Each game can still redefine a team. E.g. the Dolphins are 4-3 and in 3rd place, so maybe they're not a threat...except those 3 loses were to, arguably, the 3 best teams in the NFL. So how good are the Dolphins? I have no clue.

Scary to imagine what you'd come up with if you were applying yourself seriously!
