Pardon the thread but I'm just looking for some clarification and ive seen some conflicting information. Will Randy be on the waiver wire or will he be a FA free to sign with whichever team he chooses? I think the former, but I'm not sure. TIA. Also TNA.

From what little I understand, I believe he first goes on the waiver wire. Unless someone on that gauntlet claims him, he would then become a UFA.

Thanks. So he ain't coming back.

Hypothetically he could. A team can claim him but if they can't come to an agreement on $$, the claim can be pulled back and the next team in line has the opportunity to claim him.

But as it relates to the Pats, I just don't see Randy back here. BB is pretty decisive and will revisit a situation if it has improved or changed (see Branch). I don't see Randy's situation as having changed so to speak.

Not to hijack, PJ, but I also was just wondering. Could the Vikings ask the NFL to reverse the trade? They get their pick back and the Patriots get their player back?

Only if the NFL has some desire to NEVER see a trade again.

Sure, They can call Rodger and say, "Ya know, That Randy trade....well shucks, we were just kiddin' and all ya know, well, we'd like our pick back......Belichick did not tell us he was such a problem.....I think we got taken!"

While they are at it, they should go ahead and make a claim for our two first round picks too - I mean, why not - They have about the same chance at getting those as their 3rd back.

Hell, go ahead and claim Brady and Welker as well.

If that happens, every team that traded for a player that doesn't work out, will just do the same!

Never happen!

I believe that this changed because the Giants claimed Alex Hall off waivers yesterday and the 49ers claimed Thaddeus Gibson. My understanding is that would move them down behind the Pats.

I'm wondering that if Moss wants to come back to New England, he simply could tell that to the teams interested in claiming him. Or, he could make it hard on them from the outset by saying he wants a multi-year deal, etc., etc. In other words, I wonder if there's a way he could buff his way through the waiver process so he becomes a UFA.

My gut tells me that Moss' agent and the Pats FO have already had that conversation.

...and BB had "Runaway" by Bon Jovi playing in the background.

I would love to see him come back just for the utter random craziness of the whole thing. I 'ove sh*t shows! Plus I think he would be a good solider going forward if he could get a Prozac script.

After claiming a player, they do not negotiate (unless they want to renegotiate his contract), they merely assume his existing contract (which also would give them a probably fifth round pick when Moss walks at the end of the season).

This is a possibility.
But suppose a team claimed him and couldn't get a deal done because of
Moss was asking too much.
Then suppose he clears waivers would PATs pick Moss up knowing the bad
publicity that would follow?
The "Belicheater"' rants would ring all season long
and if they with all their spies they ever got even a hint of collusion it
would ruin PATs season with all the distraction.
I think BB will stay far away from this situation a possible.

Your post has the ring of truth to it.

I mean, if Moss ended up back here I would probably laugh till next Christmas it would be so awesome. But fortunately, BB does not make decisions based on entertainment value.

Why are people even asking if the trade can be reversed? If I buy a Lottery ticket and it turns out to be a dud, can I just go get my money back because it's not a winner? It is basically the same thing.

if he passes waivers he DOES NOT get a new full contract the Vikes pay the rest of it and he gaet 450,000 or somthing like that for the rest of the year.

If you think the Pats wouldn't jump at that given the chance you guys are crazy

ah ... but maybe they claim Randy was psychologically damaged
goods before the trade and Belichick knew it but did not disclose it ... in fact
hid it from them. Who knows what they claim but it won't take much of a reason for Commissioner Rodger "I hate the Patriots" Goodell to rule in their
favor.
