This squad has no right to be 5-1 this morning.

They are FAR EXCEEDING expectations:

1)Deaderick, Mesko, Hernandez, McCourty, Sergio Brown, Gronkowski, Tate, Edelman, Chung, Arrington, Ingram, Spikes, Cunningham, Vollmer, Wendell, Connolly, Fletcher are all either rookies or second year players who played major roles at their positions in this last game.

Then we have Crable. Woodhead and BJGE - -who are more than rookies, but barely that.

2) They have had to deal with a media circus concerning the Moss situation

3) Lost to IR their starting CB (the only veteran presence in the secondary) in Pre-season

4) Lost to IR their pro-bowl caliber Left DT in Pre-season

5) Lost to IR their do-everything 3rd down RB in Game 2

This ORGANIZATION is the NFL version of Old Ironsides.

But Tom Brady didn't throw for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns:mad:

Lost to stupidity their pro-bowl guard....

Heh --I see this has its own thread now, so let me repeat what I just wrote on the "crazy" thread:

At what point do people start talking about BB as coach of the year? No one's even mentioning him.

4th and 1.... He gambles too much.

Bill Belichick is the Coach Of The Year so far. Coaching up our youngsters and milking everything he can about jags(Connolly, Ninkovitch, BJGE, etc.).

Down to their 6th safety on the depth chart. After losing McGowan (in my opinion our best Safety last year) to IR. Had he been healthy he is probably the 3rd safety.

You can say I'm drinking to Kool-Aid, but I truly believe that it's just Bill Belichik once again showing everyone why he's considered one of the greatest coaching minds of this era. There are teams in the NFL right now with more talented and/or experienced players right now who are playing worse than our young team. The man knows how to coach, period.

There ya go - - there's another I forgot about.

Yeah, but he's just a "Glorified Gym Teacher with More Jewelry". :D

Or any era.

How about right after we go back in time and he manages to actually put a hands team out there for what was pretty much obviously going to be an onside kick?

I also have problems with his repeated reliance on zone D letting teams back into games (i.e. Bengals, Bills, Chargers). I know it's a factor of the personnel, etc. but this D has had increasing success when it pins its ears back and attacks.

His in-game decisions have been spotty at times.

He has done an amazing organizational, coach 'em up job so far.

With all due respect to Uncle Rico, the whole Coach of the Year discussion is pretty silly after just week 7.

You're right. I forgot about that. Totally offsets taking a team full of 1st- and 2nd-year players and misfit toys and going 5-1 with wins over Cincinnati, Miami (road), Baltimore and SD (road).

True enough. Looong way to go. But we do get weekly updates from national media on who they see as front-runners for all sorts of awards, starting at week one (absurd). I'm just saying that, if they're going to do that, someone should mention BB.

(By the way, since we're being silly: Both Banks and King at SI now have TFB as front-runner for MVP).

BB has been coach of the decade IMO. This year is just more brilliance. I am loving the young team getting coached up aspect.

The refs, nfl and polian's uncompetitive committee have basically stolen a couple superbowl appearances from us already and yet BB keeps silently going about the business of being the best. Hell, if the refs understood the 'in the grasp' rule we already have four superbowls.

And yeah, I didn't like the 4 and 1 play.
