To be fair at this Level he Hadn't done it before so for hte first game it's not that big of a deal if it keeps going then yes it will be and we know BB will reign him in if it does

I hear you, but if anybody gets a little slack for that it's a UDFA just brought up from the practice squad. He's making his first NFL tackles, and it was never a sure thing that he'd have the chance. But next game, Sergio -- you're a veteran.

Given that Brown is the team's 6th safety behind Chung, Sanders, the 2 Brandons and Page, you have to be happy with how he played. Plus his presence solidifies the Patriots' lead in the League's Best Dreadlocks competition.

I agree with this, and given the fact that he played well I'm certainly willing to cut him some slack. But I hope the vets reign him in a bit, to me one of the big things that separates the Pats from the rest is their professionalism.

I agree. As soon as he made the play I leaped up off the couch and yelled to my two teenage boys, "HUGE tackle right there guys. Huge!"

I'm not ready to start ordering a bust for Canton just yet, but I thought he played a solid first game. He looks like a guy who understands the fundamentals of sound tackling. And he was a tad exuberant, but hey, better a guy with a fire in his belly than a bloke who looks like he couldn't give a rat's (_._)

AGREED. Get in the huddle.

Having said that, his open field tackle on Gates did save the game. If he misses, Gates gets the first and we come home 4-2.

That's a little extreme. They were behind by 3 points at the time.

Here's the way I see it: The first few games I wondered, "where's this guy Page they got; is he playing?" Then I'd see him once in a while. With Brown it was the other way around - -"who is THAT? Oh --Brown. Nice." Now, who knows what Page would have done with Chung out, but Brown looks promising.

San Diego had 3 time outs, with 1:12 on the clock. Gates was tackled at the 27 by Brown. We can assume witout that tackle, Gates gains the first down, which would have put them inside the 25. Now the Pats did get Rivers to roll out as a result of pressure by TBC and Crable, so it was a team effort on that play. I say the chances of SD punching it in the endzone were high, as the Pats DEFENSE WAS ON THE FIELD a large portion of the 4th quarter. Brown's tackle was key to stopping the SD offense.

Exactly. Of all the things to worry about this season, Sergio Brown's overt exuberance isn't high up on the list. I was hoping he'd make the 53 and I like what I saw from him yesterday:rocker:

This kid has all the measurables. 6'2", 205 and lightening fast. Ran a 4.44 and 4.46 at Notre Dame Pro day. The light just never came on at ND.
