Can we please relieve this guy of employment?

He has ONE (1) thing to do in life - - that's all. When others are learning a playbook, and doing 20-30 drills for different situations, this guy has but one thing to practice. We freaking used a draft pick on him.

Anyone of the other 44 players could have snapped those wild pitches yesterday that our "specialist" made.

Why can't BB teach a real football player to do long snapping and not use up the spot?

Ninkovich can LS.

Can we get kelly Jennings from the Seahawks he can help out at cb and longsnap too

I agree. He has underperformed from game #1. I think BB should light a little fire under him ass and bring in some competition.

+1

I'm really hoping this gets addressed. Whether thats in the form of some serious coaching up or bringing in some competition. How long do we expect the emperor of space to keep fielding these ground balls before disaster finally strikes.

This reminds me of all those threads that used to call for replacing the snow angel a with a real player. LS never seems important until it starts biting you in the ass...

Paxton had a rough stretch early in his career. Hopefully Ingram gets over it quick.

Just ask the 2002 Giants how much a bad long snapper can kill you.

Ingram was awesome last year...I can't find any reason why he's snapping THAT bad this year! It's not that this has happened in just one game, but he's consistently missing his spots!
Any idea what the reasons could be?

Ingram was having a bad season BEFORE the SD game. It's almost a lock we'll have some long snappers in this week, I think it's 75-25 we sign one to the PS and I think it's a 25% chance Ingram is unemployed by Sunday. That was shockingly bad.

everyone is saying he is bad. A bad long snapper would get punts blocked and kicks screwed up he's not that bad.

and for those that say anyone can do it you try to throw a ball between your legs 7-15 yards accuratly with out looking while you do it then within a millisecond get hands up and ready to block

You are confusing me with your possible sarcasm

My thoughts on the matter are that we won the game :)

If this is all we have to complain about, then the good times have returned to Foxboro.

Edit in all caps. Point is the same, though -- long-snapping is a rare skill and quality NFL-caliber LS do not exactly grow on trees.

I have been upset seeing all these bad snaps. As far as I'm concerned, its lucky Mesko punted some of those for anything more than 5 yards. His punt numbers don't reflect his value to the team when you consider the wild snaps he has fixed up for us.

All it takes is one bad snap to blow a game. He's been real close, if Mesko wasn't reaching out for those so fast we could easily of had 2-3 blocked punts and a missed field goal.

Or better still, instead of using a valuable draft pick, why not just re-sign Lonie Paxton?
I've never understood why Bill felt the need to give him the chance to sign with Skippy in Denver.

You have ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY GOT TO BE JOKING. He had one bad game, for God's sake. Holy CRAP this is the mother of overreactions, even for a messageboard. Please tell me you're kidding.

If Belichick could just have one of the other player be at least as good a snapper as Ingram, then that player would be snapping. It is really that simple. Belichick has always thaought that long snapping was worth a roster spot.

One would think that one of our interior linemen could be taught to long snap or that someone else could be trained. But this is not the reality of the situation. We always have at least one emergency snapper. This year, that role goes to Ninkovich.

If you think this is all people have to complain about, check out the game thread.

Personally, I never cared much for a dedicated long snapper. Not enough expertise needed to have a roster spot just for that.

I can see not wanting to use your starting center, but we have backup centers, no? If a center can shotgun snap 8 yards deep, he can learn to snap 15-18 yards deep.

Plus, other players in other positions can long snap.

If the dedicated snapper is damn near perfect, like Lonie Paxton, okay. But Ingram short-hopped the ball to Mesko one kick! If someone on the roster, like Ninkovich, can long snap better than that, dump Ingram and use Ninkovich.

Use the roster spot for another safety or OLB.
