We Need a Deep Threat

I am a big at a loss as to why they don't go to Tate more on offense.

I haven't really focused on him, so I don't know if it's just a lack of separation, bad routes, or what.

Because its hard to find small guys down the field.

Actually the source is good. Tate can get to top speed almost instantly which is what makes him so special but his 40 time is average.

All i'm saying is that speed is not Tates issue. Oh, and what is your source?

Thank you.. Amazes me how people want to dispute what I heard on Sirius all the time from guys who really know the game and have inside sources..

I believe that both Gronkowski and Hernandez are both better deep threats than Tate. That is not a good situation.

Just like to point out that with Moss Brady has:
69.7 cmp%
7.5 Y/A
9 TDs
2 Ints
109.0 QBR

Without:
60.5 cmp%
5.9 Y/A
2 TDs
2 Ints
75.1 QBR

Just like to point out that Moss played in games against the Bengals, Bills, and Dolphins when its special teams unit melted down and put the game out of hand, not the Ravens and Chargers in close games. That might have something to do with those numbers.

100% correct good sr

Welker misses Moss

Do you mind telling me who these people are?

And my point is, Tates issue is NOT HIS SPEED. It's his hand. Its his route running. I don't blame him, he's come off an ACL and he's a raw wr

That source is bad, Tate has some wheels.

It's not speed thats his problem anyway, he hasn't shown that he can consistantly catch the football.

The source was his campus number since he didn't run Combine or Pro-Day. It's not wrong.

That being said, Being a deep threat isn't just about speed. Jerry Rice (he of the 4.8 speed) can tell you that.

I said it in the game day thread. I said it last year. I mentioned it in my off-season review. Koppen isn't able to handle the NTs in the NFL. He's a great veteran player, but his skills have slipped.

This is the 3rd game in a row where a NT has just man-handled him and he had no help. And that can only be his fault. Either because he couldn't handle the guy or because he didn't call the right protection.

Either way, Vollmer will be the starting LT next year and the Pats will likely have a new center.

His name is A.J. Green......

but dude... he is still in college:(

sorry, the pats won't get him. the raiders are looking very good right now and we may just end up with a top 15 pick.

Mel Kiper draft guides 2009 & 2010 list Tate as 4.51 and Taylor Price as 4.38.

Price ran 4.40 at combine, Tate missed combine.

Have the Pro Football Weekly draft guides also, recall similar numbers.

Thanks, he looks faster than that when he plays. But again, thats not his problem.

Another CONCUR HERE!!! I posted in another thread we need to target Ryan Kalil from Carolina..

On a double move, Tate could be deadly. Fly routes, not so much.

Tate had knee surgery his senior year so how did he run in the combine?
