On Sunday Countdown, good to hear.

Keyshawn and TJ were discussing about the best teams in the AFC and said "The Steelers, unlike the other great teams, the Ravens and Jets have a great proven QB"

Then Ditka came in and said that, first analyst I've seen give us real respect.

Great to hear -- though it's amazing how week-to-week things are in the NFL.

I'd feel better if it came from someone who isn't an idiot.

dont really care about ditka. in fact i stopped watching the espn crew altogether..dont find them interesting or insightful.just IMO

So are you pessimistic Pete? ;)

If we win today, I will be quite pleased.

If we lose, this team is nowhere near elite and we'll be having to worry about the Dolphins instead of the Jets.

Ditka is an idiot and hates the Pats more than any "analyst" out there, bar none. The Pats thrive when they are underdogs or flying under the radar, so Ditka needs to STFU.

I'm sure Don Shula would be saying the same kind of thing, if anybody cared what he thought.

Something about analysts masquerading wild 4ss guesses as facts.

Ditka's not a complete idiot. His record when predicting games last year was impeccable.

A guy who wants to get rid of the facemask. Wonder who Beano Cook likes for the Super Bowl? He's about as with it as Ditka.

I don't think he was dead serious about that.

I hate Ditka as a person and an analyst, but I did get pleasure out of him saying that. It must have hurt him deep in his soul to say something like that.

I take that with a huge grain of salt. If the Pats lose this week, I'm sure he's gonna flip flop on his opinion.

Marshall Faulk, Tom Jackson, Mike Wilbon...

Wilbon? Joke?
He's one of the best analysts out there, no doubt. He was one of few that said the Pats were a top 4 team in the NFL right after the Moss trade.

Surprising especially considering Ditka openly on the air admitted he didn't like the Pats a few years ago (this may have been during 2007).

First time I heard that Ditka said that. I did read where Joe Pa stated it. You have to admit, players would not lead with thier helmets. Maybe they replace today's helmets with the one bar that kickers used to wear.

Exactly. That was his response to the helmet-to-helmet hits. He wasn't dead serious about getting rid of the facemask. More of a, "well, if you want it to stop, make it so players will destroy their faces if they try it and remove the facemask". And yes, the helmet-to-helmet hits would stop immediately if that happened.

Bleh, I'd rather fly under the radar. Let the Jets and Ravens continue to be the irresistable forces of the NFL
