Currently we have three. I anticipate that, by the time we get to ten (Vince is safe...I think), the Pats will have secured a first-round bye.

1) TBC

TBC is a decent 3rd option at OLB, as a #1 he is about the worst starter in the NFL.

2) Ninkovich

MrNathanDrake said:
OLB in the 34 is the most important position after NT. Unfortunately for our defense, our starting OLB Rob Ninkovich probably couldnt start on a lot of College football teams. Our defense is going to suffer whenever Ninkovich is on the field.

Ninkovich gets ZERO pressure on the QB. He can't tackle. Can't shed a block. Can't cover. What is he good for?

Having Ninkovich at OLB is like having a QB that can't complete a pass. Or a WR that can't catch. Or a Long Snapper that can't long snap. Simply put, Ninkovich is useless at his position.

3) Meriweather

wHY THE **** we are playing 10 players in defense? why is the crapiest S in NFL meriweather playing out there? since meriweather 2nd year our defense is laughable, this guy cant start ina seroious pro team

I guess we currently have two, as TBC is seeing less reps in favor of Cunningham. Anyway, that's a good thing.

your forgetting Butler, Arrington and Wilhite.

And I think someone said Mayo too but i could be wrong

An interesting hobby. I'd get your depression meds early though, enough of our gloomy guses assessments and you'll need them. ;)

Oh, feel free to add quotes as appropriate. I'm going to heed Box's advice and go fill my meds.

Surely we can't count Meriweather, he's only the worst safety in the league. He looks like a HOF'er next to the other two.

pass the meds over here. I just looked up a few threads after the Jets loss.

We all know that Ninkovich is horrible and once Cunningham starts to make an impact, Ninkovich will be sitting on the sidelines until he is cut.

And I don't know what the hell Spikes was doing in coverage against Keller last weekend.

On Mayo:
I agree with the panel thus far. I've seen nothing from him that would make me think he's a game-changer. In fact, I haven't seen anything that really makes me believe he will ever become that.

Wilhite and Butler are starting where they belong.

On the bench.

What have Wilhite and Butler done this year?

If Bodden was healthy, Mcourty and Bodden would have been the starting CB tandem and I guarantee you NE would have a better Pass defense today.

Not those other two $hitbums.

I think if we had any kind of rush consistently, we'd be better off. Put me down in the TBC column.

Oh my, there is quite the list with this loserish, subpar organization, isn't there.

Rob Ninkovich
Tully Banta-Cain
Kyle Arrington
Darius Butler
James Sanders (when we suck enough for him to start)
Ron Brace
Dan Connolly
BenJarvus
Terrence Wheatley
Jonathan Wilhite

At one point or another, all of these guys were your typical cheap, boring underperforming, choking, weak, low-rate scum of the earth Belichickian "starters" who couldn't make the custodial unit of a UFL team. It's no surprise that we haven't locked up the division yet if this is the best "talent" Belicheap can scrape together. We need to fire this schmuck and get a real football coach, like Mike Singletary.

it's like BB went to the local scrubbery to find the guys on this team.

Looking like those complaints about Butler are still valid. The guy needs to turn it around.

I actually liked ninko, arrington, and connolly b4 the season started. I liked arrington for st though and didnt expect him to play corner this well. But for me you can add guyton and pryor to the crap list.

He's been a very solid contributor for years, but he's never been to the Pro Bowl. Throw Mike Wright on to the List.

I believe it is Ochmed Jones who has also been on the Mayo Bashing Bandwagon.

Mayo all he can do is tackle..

Agreed. I'm pretty sure he's been listed as a worst starter at one point when he was trying to help fill the Seymour gap.

On Mayo:
While Ninkovich made 3 nice plays in Miami, that's about all you're going to get from him.

I still stand by my opinion of Ninkovich because he is horrible against the run.

He's not the long term answer for the Pats.

As for Mayo, I've accepted him for what he is - a player who racks up tackles and that's about it.

But don't take it the wrong way about what I said about Mayo.
