New England Patriots tied 19th 4.1ypc
2010
Tennessee Titans tied 10th 4.4 ypc

Somebody brought up the loss of Alge Crumpler and the difference its making to Chris Johnson in Tennessee. I said I'd have a look at the stats for last year and I was amazed at the dropoff for the Titans in team rushing. The Patriots team rushing stats are up. I'm a huge fan of Alge Crumpler since I heard Belichick raving about him and then I heard the man speak and he just seems so intelligent and level headed. This could be one of the best signings Belichick has ever made. We have two young tight ends here learning their trade and Crumpler seems to be an incredible influence in the locker room as well as on the field. Discuss............

Re: Alge Crumpler

He's been with the team for several months and is already a captain...enough said

Re: Alge Crumpler

Agree...Crumpler seems to be the model player to help mentor both Gronkowski and Hernandez. Lucky to have a player of his caliber in the locker room. His guidance should go a long way in forming how both these youngsters act/perform on and off the field.

Hats off to BB on the signing !:rocker:

Re: Alge Crumpler

Crumpler and NO Maroney are the factors of our rushing improvement,BJGE and Woodhead at least go forward thru the middle of the LOS

Its got nothing to do with Maroney leaving imo. I don't think there is anybody better than him here right now except Taylor who is just so injury prone.

Woodhead has certainly looked really good but I think a lot of that is down to good blocking too.

Re: Alge Crumpler

Crumpler was an excellent offseason pick-up for us. His blocking has been top notch and he's been more of an option in the passing game than was originally expected. The O-Line, as a whole, has done an excellent job protecting Brady this season. Crumpler and Gronk have played a pretty big part in that.

Re: Alge Crumpler

Crumpler has made some fantastic plays in the running game this year.

He's everything that Kyle Brady and Chris Baker were supposed to be, and more.

Re: Alge Crumpler

when we have a lead I always hope brady throws him a cherry or two.

While I think Crumpler is a great addition and I am not trying to put down his role on the team in any way. Crumplre has Not been more of an option in the passing game then expected. He has one catch this season for 4 yards.

What I really like about him is how well he carries out his role. He has crushed opponents with his blocks. Also when they flash to him on the sideline he is always talking to the younge tight ends. It certainly seems like he is not upset with all the chances they get for receptions.

I like to refer to the front line as the "Crumple zone".

Yes, you're right. I thought he had a couple of more catches than that off the top of my head. However, I wasn't really expecting him to run ANY routes as it is. I was expecting him to primarily be a blocker. So 1 catch for 4 yards is surpassing my expectations.:D

Re: Alge Crumpler

ok now can we get a decent center to replace Koppen? Is anyone gonna start a thread about how his play has hit a downward spiral? He's too small and slow now compared to some of the better NT's

I actually have interior O-Line as my top position to draft for after this season. We need at least one guard and a center.

Agreed..... I love Koppen but his best days are behind him obviously.... A top center in the draft next year makes a lotta sense to most Pats fans. I think Pittsburgh grabbed a center/guard that people were talking about us maybe liking.... Think he was from the Gators also.

Speaking of Gators we gotta love how three we grabbed are looking so far early in their careers.... Jus' sayin'

Re: Alge Crumpler

Good for Crumpler...

It seems that every year, or every other year, the Patriots find a veteran who comes into the environment here in New England and see what a difference it is and go "all in.....Drink the cool-aid...etc"....Seau comes to mind. Moss too, definately Harrison and I'm sure I could come up with a few others if I think long enough about it.

Crumpler has definately loved being here from day 1. Every quote I have read so far from his has been nothing but positive...and I hope he is rewarded with a championship ring.....

Lost in the rising fortunes of team success and the individual brilliance of Devin McCourty, Danny Woodhead, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez is our machine veteran reformed blocking tight end Alge Crumpler.

Whilst not being a massive target for the Patriots (3 receptions for 35 yards) I can't help but feel he's been one of the acquisitions of the season for the Patriots. By all reports he's been a fantastic leader in the club house and from my observations Crumpler has great rapport with the offensive line, not only knowing his blocking assignments but executing them with precision most of the time.

Whilst we've all celebrated the recent success of BB's drafting this season I believe Crumpler has been one of the reasons Tom Brady has stayed upright and is playing some hellified ball. For mine, Crumpler has been the smart veteran acquisition this team needed to improve the Patriots and add stability to a very young side. BB has worked his magic again.

Well done Alge. Keep up the good work.

Here. Here.

BUT, I'm not sure why Crump isn't used a little more in the passing game. He's been a fantastic possession receiver in the past.
