Retired NFL legend Junior Seau was arrested early this morning on suspicion of domestic violence ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

We're told the retired NFL superstar sustained injuries in the wreck -- cops are on scene. TMZ obtained this photo of Seau's SUV which landed at the bottom of a cliff several feet from the beach.

Seau has been transported to a local hospital. The accident happened just north of Oceanside, CA ... where the former San Diego Charger had just been released from jail hours earlier.

Didn't expect to hear this about Seau. Hope he's OK and then changes his ways. Just no excuse for domestic violence.

Get well soon both physically and mentally Junior. We love ya.

There always was something a little wrong with him upstairs. Hope the injuries aren't too serious and I also hope he seeks help with a mental health professional after he gets out of jail (if he goes).

EDIT: Is it also wrong if the title of this thread made me LOL?

DO we even know the allegations for DV were true? Perhaps they were, maybe not .. either way it might have depressed him enough to drive his car of a cliff.

Attempted suicide .. not good.

Amen....... I won't believe the DV charges until the court has it's say. The laws have swung too far into the "presumed guilty" side of things and state laws are just out of control, especially in areas like California where an arrest is REQUIRED simply upon the say of one person.

Sad to hear that, seemed like a good guy here. Hope he gets better.

they just updated his condition...just cuts and bruises thankfully.

Why so? It's Justin Beiber..... under aged and over-hyped.

Who does he play for?

Back to Junior. I hope that his injuries are not serious and that he can get his personal life together. Not going to make any judgements untilmore facts are known.

Well, it is rainy and wet here in SD today. But where he went off (N. Carlsbad), it would be pretty hard to find yourself off a cliff without trying. Not to mention the timing with his arrest, etc. Unfortunate...

Sometimes the problem isn't they can't make the adjustment to life away from football, it's that the entire family can't. Whole other dynamic. Tuna's wife stuck with him for years, because he was seldom around...then they divorced once he did his first HCing retirement.

This guy has now survived being trampled by a bull and driving off of a cliff in the same year.
