someone that DVRd the game help me out

on the ravens second FG i think it was there was a penalty on merriweather for illigal contact but I didn't see any on the replays they showed was it a phantom call like the one on Arrington on the TD or was it legit.

and the one on Arrington looked more like offensive or a non call but that's just me

Re: someone that DVRd the game help me out

I think they meant to call it on Arrington, and yes it was a very weak call. But Merriweather definitely didn't do anything wrong on it.

I'd also like someone to break down what the secondary did in the 4th quarter/OT. After the Ravens recievers were running wild early Flacco apparntly had nowhere to throw and though the pressure was good it's not like it was overwhelming.

I know this isn't of pressing concern after a big win, but Brandon has to be benched again. That one penalty (and the fine is in the mail) was just disgusting... I'm glad Heap didn't get badly hurt. And he's just missing coverages all over, taking terrible angles, always yapping after every play. The goods just do not outweigh the bad anymore, sit him down and put Page or Sanders in.

They should suspend him then cut him then suspend him again.

??

Meriweather played well. I certainly don't approve of his headhunting, but BB could have benched him after the penalty. Guess what? He didn't.

I don't understand what the hell is going on with him this year. He needs to get it together.

Don't like it ... and it could be him someday on the turf ... hopefully they can correct it a bit without him losing his effectiveness.

Rodney Harrison was on NFL Tonight stating that with him and with most players, suspensions are the only thing that gets through and are the only thing that will stop helmet to helmet shots.

Given the number of such incidences today it wouldn't surprise me to see a very strong response from the Commissioner's office - anything the winds of public opinion blow in a certain direction he goes along with it.

So I wouldn't be shocked to see Meriweather and other players in the league be forced to sit next week.

Aside from that I'm loving his intensity... his hard hits are going to make receivers look over their shoulder just like with Rodney himself.

(Great commentary from Rodney - he referenced both his fines, and suspensions for hits, as well as his 4 game suspension for steroids within 5 minutes... "runnin' down his resume" as the other guys put it... but adding lots of 1st hand insight too.)

When he is off the field we are a really good defensive team. He is agressive when the play is over, he cant play, he is afraid of really contact... So bad. We cant play with 10 on defense always. Please bench him

I didn't see Page much before that, and I did after. I didn't go over the tape or anything, but I'm hoping Meriweather's playing time went down after that.

Sometimes I wonder if you are even watching the same game. Hell, even the same sport?

Wow, some of the dumbest things I have ever read on this board, and all in the same post! Way to go!

He was on the field the entire 4th quarter and OT, and I thought our D looked pretty good.

He was obviously aggressive during the plays, seeing how he was going for the "blow up" but Heap didn't have the ball.

He is about 180 degrees away from "afraid of real contact".

Reading your knee jerk reactions suck.

Page took over for Meriweather for the series and than, AFAIK, Meriweather played the remainder of the game.

All of these people suggesting Meriweather should be benched or whatnot are clearly high, as BM is the best player at the spot and I expect BB agrees.

I saw Meriweather light up a receiver on two occasions after the penalty. Obviously you want it to be done legally, but having an enforcer in the secondary pays big dividends.

I don't know about you guys, but I rather like safeties who have a reputation of being a little "dirty". Helps with the intimidation factor. Rodney lecturing on playing clean? Haha.

I can't remember for sure, but wasn't he on the field for the 4th Quarter/OT?? If so, no way in hell do I want him benched.

Definitely did not like the hit though, hope to not see that again

One thing they PERHAPS should do is take Meriweather off the jumbotron where they have a video of him telling the crowd to stand up and get loud. It just adds to the "swaggerin' dude" image he's trying to project.

Meriweather gave way to Page after the hit, though Meriweather was still in some sub packages. But Page was injured in the second half and with Sanders out, Meriweather was back.

fine...but headhunting is not acceptable for me. I love the desire, I love hard hits, but make them legal, helmet to helmet like that, is not acceptable for me.

He has a ways to go yet, he jumps some routes that have cost us...I can't imagine that sits well with BB...

Yeah Meriweather and Harrison are the same...:D:D:D .
