So you do figure BB has gone down the meth path.

Ok kids gather round for a lesson.

Losing Mankins in free agency equals a 2012 3rd pick. Does anyone else know what ALSO equals a 2012 3rd round pick? Anyone? Anyone at all? You in the back! Yes Jimmy Johnson (draft value board creator) that's a correct a 2011 4th round pick DOES equal a 2012 3rd round pick.

Mankins IMO is a 4th round pick value

And it would be perfect for the team to get Branch literally for FREE other than contract money by getting thier 4th pick back if they choose to do a trade before the deadline....I don't think they will because they may want depth but he is not missed so why not get a 4th for a guy that could be sitting on the bench?

I don't want to see this OL change in week 10 if it continues to play well and protect Brady...good OLs stay together consistently as they know what each other is doing and staying on the same page...sitting someone for Mankins in week 10 based on his past play would be dumb if the OL has done well up until then.

Besides Mankins is not suddenly going to be a run blocking stud for us

I have a lesson for you: don't be a condescending douche. Think it over a while.

Yeah I agree with you all the way. I was making a separate argument that even if we kept him we wouldn't be getting anything additional for doing so.

Run Blocking isn't a weakness for Logan Mankins.

No!

But would there ever be a chance to trade him to Dallas who has serious line issues right now and in particular a guard issue..

I am thinking Ware??? :D

we might have to throw something else into the pot but geeze ware would come with a hefty price tag to finish out his contract..

However I think our OLB pass rush problem would be solved!

Ha my bad man I felt like neither you or DI were adding anything to the conversation about why he's worth more than a fourth. I was trying to make a point that people here often forget about draft picks. Wasn't trying to be a douche. Both you and DI are ok by me.

Can someone explain why this.....

So you do figure BB has gone down the meth path.

is not considered condescending douche!

But this

would be condesending douche?

Cause they both seem to have the same level of condescending to me. But the second one actually explains the authors reasoning.

The fantasy 2011 4th is better because
(a) Comp picks come AFTER all 32 3rd round picks
(b) Comp picks MAY NOT HAPPEN if the Pats sign a big FA

Back to the thread...so a wirter with too much time on his hands posts a trade (a stupid one at that) that even he says won't happen.

One more time people...
1. Mankins needs to agree to go to the new team
2. Mankins needs to agree with the $
3. A team needs to decide to pay an OG top dollar going into an unknown cap environment
4. The team must be acceptable to BB
5. The team must offer the Patriots something that BB feels Mankins is worth

These requirements are why Deus is right, such seperate threads of 'what we would do' are crap

The thread O.P. was nothing but an attack post on Mankins. It could have gone into any other current Mankins thread. There's really nothing more to add that hasn't been gone over time and again.

Because one is assuming absence of rudimentary knowledge. The only reason I raised the "meth path" point wasn't to connote superiority, just parroting what DI wrote earlier.

I appreciate your concern, though. Sorry if that's too condescending for you.

If you want less "crap" threads maybe start a few riveting ones? Of course check with Deus first to make sure it's preapproved on his end.

Because I don't have time to search out every Mankins thread you've posted in could you please address my point? I'd actually like to hear your thoughts on a 2012 3rd vs. a 2011 4th.

I start few threads mainly because (a) any thoughts usually easily fit into existing threads (b) I don't have many riveting topics. That stops me most times except when I'm wicked bored.

So lay off the OP, maybe he was wicked bored! :)

1.) 2012 3rd v. 2011 4th isn't a Mankins thread issue.

2.) The Patriots need starting quality offensive linemen more than the Patriots need 2011 4th round picks, because Neal is older and about to retire, Koppen's injuries have slowed him, Connolly isn't starting quality and Light is both aging and coming into free agency. Without Mankins, the Patriots have only 1 starting offensive lineman that can definitely be looked at as part of the starting O-line of the "future".

3.) Even if the team needed picks, Mankins is worth far more than a 2011 4th round pick, and the Patriots are better off spending their time trying to bring him back into the fold.

4.) The Patriots just coughed up a 4th in 2011 (the higher 4th, in fact) for Deion Branch. Mankins is a far better player than Branch.

5.) 2011 is expected to be a very shallow draft, thus potentially diluting the strength of the 4th round pick.

None of this makes the O.P. any better.
