I am surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

Peter King put this on his MMQB:

Maybe someone did catch it and I missed it, but I guess it speaks to how irrelevant Borges really is that not only did no one read his column to catch this quote or that he is so desperate for attention that he would write such a ridiculous quote.

I haven't forked over a penny at a newstand for the Herald nor have I clicked on its web page since Tomass, so I couldn't have read it even if I cared what that idiot thought.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

And the insulting of people with different opinions continues. What a shock.

Even though the majority of fans in every single poll I have read have also been critical of the trade. But the internet forumers are right and everyone else is wrong of course.
Yeah, because equating an all-time NFL head coach with a gym teacher is just stating a "different opinion."

You must be so much more enlightened than the rest of us.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

Maybe she as traded back by the fans on the Vikings board, and hasn't been notified yet.

Aw don't be mad just because I actually support our players, current and former. For me its this little thing called loyalty. You may have heard of it but never experienced it yourself.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

Oh, heck, look at the same column:

In the Raiders game there was quite a bit of time left (I think around 4 min?) and at the time the Raiders were not winning the game. There's a difference between that and being up in a game with 16 seconds left when the other team has no time outs.

So let me get this straight, your okay with what Borges said about of Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick? Loyalty.....nice...

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

You've gotta be kidding me. Borges' quote isn't an opinion about the trade, it's a ridiculous ad hominem attack against Belichick, and one's that not grounded in reality in the slightest, to boot.

Yeah, but "Teenuh" wants to, erm, punch BB in the face, or something.

She actually makes me pine for the days of klinefan.

Yes, he was angry about the trade and criticized Bill about it. The description was a bit excessive but it gets the point across I suppose.

And how could I, as a normal pats fans, possibly be as enlightened as all of the internet homers? That is just ridiculous.

I already said that was excessive. But I agree with his assessment of the trade.

Didn't I see a long winded attention wanting post last night saying how you were leaving and never coming back? It was only 15 hours between your posts. Surely Vikings fans haven't run you off already?

Maybe you missed the original post. The relevant part is what's in between quotation marks, not that he disagrees with the trade. A lot of people disagree with it and still find a way to not demean one of the greatest coaches of all time.

Oh, is that what all of this Vikings talk is about? I missed it.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

BTW, I am happy that I can quote it from Peter King (who himself is a moron, but at least I skim his MMQB to read the few things that might interest me) and provide a link to SI.com than actually give Borges' column the attention it definitely doesn't deserve. Borges now gets to look like an idiot without benefitting from clicks to his moronic article (in fairness, I have not read his article, but it isn't hard to accurately assume that it is stupid).

I like the way you think. No cash at the newsstand, no check for a subscription and no clicks on the internet; since Tomass that is the only attitude for Pats fans.

I think people are reacting to the source and the history of the "newspaper" for which he writes, as much as or more than they are reacting to what he says. Put me in the category of those who question the trade but who have no time for the writer. In fact, his opposition to it would be enough to make me reconsider my opinion.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

Must be hard being in the minority of pats fans who actually approve of the trade. :lol2: How does it feel to be smarter than all of the majority of pats fans o' wise internet forumer?

You lost me on that one. Being in the majority doesn't make a view right or wrong. I am and have been critical of the trade, but I wouldn't think my opinion any less credible if I were in the minority. I suggest you rethink that approach.

If you are referring to the thread where I said I was done arguing about the situation with kraft/moss and called people out for being childish and calling someone names just because I don't share their opinion, I never said I was quitting the forum. You don't seriously think I'm going to let a bunch of childish kids run me out of the forum do you? Not a chance. I'll stick around and try to represent the majority of normal pats fans in this endless sea of homers. ;)

But now that I have seen people's true colors around here, things will be more..... interesting.

I hate to be the new guy here pickin' a fight, but I don't see how this has anything to do with Borges' quote. Regardless of anyone's views on the trade, Borges' comment was something you'd expect in a forum, not by a writer at his level. It was crass and unprofessional.

People say things when they are angry that they wouldn't normally say. I don't think you fully understand the level of anger among patriots fans.

Oh, f#$%.

I TAKE IT ALL BACK!

Except for the part where you're getting on people for disagreeing with someone else's opinion, when what they're actually doing is disagreeing with a writer's personal attack against a coach (when said writer has been openly hostile to said coach for years) and not the writer's opinion itself. That part stays.

Borges is a pro. His anger is irrelevant. He should not be stooping to insults.
