Peter King put this on his MMQB:

"Take away the Patriots from Bill Belichick and what is he? A gym teacher with better jewelry, no disrespect to gym teachers intended.''
-- Ron Borges, columnist for the Boston Herald, in a scathing column critical of Belichick for trading Randy Moss.

Maybe someone did catch it and I missed it, but I guess it speaks to how irrelevant Borges really is that not only did no one read his column to catch this quote or that he is so desperate for attention that he would write such a ridiculous quote.

Borges used that line a few years ago too, he's so lazy he just cutting and pasting old quotes. At least he's only plagarizing himself now.

What would a mediot be without stupid lines like this? An actual sports journalist.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

I am a bit appalled at such lack of journalistic integrity. He has been wrong so many times that he is reduced to this.

I'm surprised anyone still reads/listens to this guy.

CSNNE trots him out when they want the voice of Doom and Gloom.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

BTW, I am happy that I can quote it from Peter King (who himself is a moron, but at least I skim his MMQB to read the few things that might interest me) and provide a link to SI.com than actually give Borges' column the attention it definitely doesn't deserve. Borges now gets to look like an idiot without benefitting from clicks to his moronic article (in fairness, I have not read his article, but it isn't hard to accurately assume that it is stupid).

The Big Show on WEEI does the same. It is like having Dakota from Braintree on for four hours allowing Ordway to look smart shooting down Borges' stupid anti-Belichickian arguments.

King ripped a player who made a last minute interception and ran with it instead of falling to the ground, only to be stripped of it by Roddy White costing his team the game......
When the same situation arose yesterday ( last minute interception and the guy this time goes to the house for a pick 6) what is King's response??
>>>p. The Raiders, for breaking the 13-game schneid against San Diego, and Tyvon Branch, for having the football sense to not just dive on a fourth-quarter loose ball but to run it back 68 yards for the insurance touchdown.<<
How about a little consistency? Either it's the right move to run it or it's not. You can't have the hindsight of criticizing if he loses it but praise if he scores... I have neither the time nor the inclination to look for the original quote ( re Roddy White) but it's typical of the media....

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

Why does anyone still pay this guy for his thoughts is beyond me. But then again there must be people out there that don't really pay attention and still think he has integrity, or he credible.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

And the insulting of people with different opinions continues. What a shock.

Even though the majority of fans in every single poll I have read have also been critical of the trade. But the internet forumers are right and everyone else is wrong of course.

I did say King was a moron. He gives Favre a free pass on the sexual harrassment thing too because he loves Favre where he would be ripping another player for this. I just don't hate King like I hate Borges. King every once and a while writes something interesting or makes a good point.

That's odd. How did I end up clicking on the Vikings board?

Oh, heck, look at the same column:

I don't care if you scored, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The right play with the lead and 16 seconds left after intercepting the ball is not to weave through opponents who could strip you. The right play is to secure the ball and get on the ground, so as to not risk any chance of a turnover.

I know... I could have sworn this was a Patriots board. Maybe Teenuh got a concussion and isn't sure where she is?

Must be really hard carrying that cross around all the time.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

I couldn't imagine being this jealous of anyone.

You've gotta be kidding me. Borges' quote isn't an opinion about the trade, it's a ridiculous ad hominem attack against Belichick, and one's that not grounded in reality in the slightest, to boot.

Maybe she as traded back by the fans on the Vikings board, and hasn't been notified yet.

Re: I surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

Must be hard being in the minority of pats fans who actually approve of the trade. :lol2: How does it feel to be smarter than all of the majority of pats fans o' wise internet forumer?
