With NE on a bye, really have no choice but to find other teams to root for. Either that or skip football.

Vikings (1-2) at Jets (3-1) - NFC vs the 1st place team in the division. Pretty much a no brainer.

Chargers (2-2) at Raiders (1-3) - The Raider's first round pick is currently in the #5-#6 spot, the more the Raiders lose the better.

Bears (3-1) at Panthers (0-4) - The Panther's 2nd round pick is currently #33-#37. We want to keep it that way.

Broncos (2-2) at Ravens (3-1). We have Denver's 4th.

Buccaneers (2-1) at Bengals (2-2). NFC vs AFC. Go AFC.

Chiefs (3-0) at Colts (2-2) - Logic says root for the 2-2 team, not the undefeated team which leads the league for homefield. But I like Matt. I like Scott. I want them to do well. I don't like Peyton. I want him to lose.

Eagles (2-2) at 49ers (0-4) San Fran needs to win a few so we can have the first pick overall.

Falcons (3-1) at Browns (1-3). Several ways to look at this game. 1) NFC vs AFC, root NFC. Or 2) Browns need a win to get ahead of Oakland for Oakland to have the first round pick. Or 3) I hate the coach of the Browns. Two out of three says root for the Falcons.

Giants (2-2) at Texans (3-1) NFC vs AFC. Giants seem to be making more of a run at Oakland's first round pick than the Texans. Many will root the other way because of the final game of the 2007 season.

Jaguars (2-2) at Bills (0-4) - Odd as it may seem to be rooting for a division rival this early in the season, but I am more worried about NE battle Jax for a wildcard spot than I am the Bills for the playoffs. Plus the Bills seem to be making a very serious run for the 1st pick overall.

Rams (2-2) at Lions (0-4) To help the picks.

Saints (3-1) at Cardinals (2-2), We have the Saint's 6th round pick.

Titans (2-2) at Cowboys (1-2) AFC vs NFC. Go NFC.

Packers (3-1) at Redskins (2-2) - I could not care at all either way.

Byes: Dolphins (2-2), Patriots (3-1), Seahawks (2-2), Steelers (3-1)

we definitely want Baltimore to win. If they lose, they will spend all week preparing for us like it's the super bowl. If they win, they will they will think they are invincible and then POW, pats sock it to them. ;)

Shouldn't we be rooting for Carolina to have a better record than Oakland? We should root for the Panthers until they pass Oakland. Then, we root for them to lose.

Re: Who to root for....week 5 edition

As distasteful as it may be, I'd go with rooting for the Browns to win. I can't realistically consider them to be a threat to take away a wildcard spot from the Pats, so that would throw out the logic of rooting for an NFC team rather than an AFC team. It's much more likely that they will be battling for an early draft pick, so I want them to win more games than teams with draft picks that the Pats now own, such as Oakland, Carolina and even Denver if possible.

Forget who their coach is and root for Cleveland to win.

We want Oakland and Carolina to lose all their games remaining.......

We want the raiders to go 2-14/ 3-13 something like that
We want the panthers to go 0-16 if possible.... We want two 1st rounders and #33 that is essentially a third 1st round pick!

nope... i root for them both to loose as much as possible and let the picks fall where they may... top 5 picks in both rounds is just so good i don't care where they are

Broncos (2-2) at Ravens (3-1). We have Denver's 4th.

This is the trickiest one of the bunch. Even being a draftnik, I'm not inclined to worry much about the positioning of a 4th -- there are bigger fish to fry here.

I'd rather see both of those teams at 3-2 than the Ravens sitting at 4-1. But would a Baltimore victory give the Pats a better shot at the week 6 win as another poster suggested? Not sure at all.

Sorry I can never root for Favre, I hope the Jets crush him.

As mentioned above, I think I'd rather see them after a win then after a loss.

Some teams, typically ones with young players, might go into a funk and lose their confidence after a loss or back-to-back losses. On the other hand I think certain teams, especially ones with a lot of veterans who seem to chirp a lot, they tend to be most vulnerable after a few wins; a loss brings them back to earth and renews their focus. To me Baltimore seems to be in that second group, so even though I don't want to see them go to 4-1 I think the Pats may have a better chance if they do win next week.

For some reason I'm rooting for Buffalo. Maybe because the Jags beat the COlts last week. 90Edit: Plus the whole Carolina pick thing ...)

Why do you want Oakland to win?

Oakland will lose plenty this season... I'm not worried about the draft positioning. I'd rather see the Chargers flame out of AFC contention, and more often then not prefer to root against them. Just don't like them. I see this matchup as a win-win either way.
