I am not really up to date with baseball! Not much chance to watch it!

But it is believed that John Henry's New England Sports Ventures have put a bid in for Liverpool Football Club, who are currently in LOADS of debt!

Just wondered if he was a good owner? Did good for the team, and not just his pocket?

For a report on the bid to be believed from him:

well, since his arrival as owner, the sox have won 2 World Series, we have remain competitive each year, we have rebuilt our farm system, and he has renovated the old Fenway Park...yes he has assembled a good staff, but he is a very good owner.

That sounds good to me :) the bid has been accepted this morning, so hopefully he can do what he did with Red Sox!

Just to make it clear, Liverpool fans are not opposed to American ownership just incase anyone gets that vibe (wouldn't be hard actualy). There has been alot of discussion as to use of words during demonstrations, especially as Liverpool has alot of fans in the U.S. and a red hot hub of supporters in NY who achieved alot against the current owners.

All the fans want is an owner who can run the ship correctly. We understand businessmen are interested in making money and we also understand not everyone will have the club 100% at heart. We don't even care how much money Henry's group wants to invest in the club, either on a stadium or playing staff. All every fan wants right now is a finacially secure team thats in a position to move forward, then we can go from there.

He ain't Robert Kraft, but he's not bad.

BTW, there were huge financial concerns over the Henry group's purchase of the Sox. Many people thought they'd never be able to field a competitive team and the result would be the Sox at the bottom of the standings each year.

This will delight them no end. They'll welcome him with open arms, as they did with the other two whilst singing their USA USA chants in mockery of the Glazers. But if things don't go as they want they'll be burning your flag in the streets, again

We don't care where the new owners are from, we just want someone that knows what LFC is about!

Widely condemed by the fanbase as we have alot of U.S based fans, but way to generalise. Like I said, each demonstration is aware not to alienate American fans who have done just as much across the pond against the owners as we are trying to do here, again I'll refer to the guys and gals in New York who have took the message over there no end. Man U fans might be burning flags left right and center against the Glazers bu it's not accepted by the majority here. The use of "Yanks" is also something often debated but is seen as an easy way to address Gillett and Hicks by the majority.

Just to add, Tom and George weren't welcomed with open arms as we here are a little afraid and sceptical when it comes to messing with Liverpool. They were greeted warmly though just as everyone is in Liverpool. Now they're finding out how passionate people are in this city.

If things don't go our way but we see your trying to do things right theres no other set of fans in the world that will get behind you more than Liverpool fans. However things are not being done right here, it's widely accepted and the owners are bleeding the club to death so here we are.

Try researching before you wade in.

From what ive seen hes a very good owner, i don't think the fans of Liverpool will have anything to worry about. If he treats the team there like the one here the fans should be happy they have him as an owner. Hes not like Kraft he seems to be quite and laid back.

He is rich and just because he is a sick wheel he gets man points in my book.

Way to generalise. I've never seen a yanks out banner at OT. I've seen plenty of glazer out though.

Probrably because Glazer is singular. We have two joint owners and if you read it's seen as a simple way to address both, rightly or wrongly. Generalisation? Might, which implies they may continue to do it or they may not. I say continue because they went through flags like the clappers back in '05.

Trafford council were probrably picking them out the drains for weeks.

I travel 3 or 4 times a year. Never saw it. And I ain't telling fibs.

Personally, I like John Henry overall as an owner although at times I feel as though the "Red Sox machine" is in overdrive. By that I mean, they will put the logo on anything that moves (or doesn't move for that matter). I'm a die hard Sox fan but when I sit down at breakfast, I don't need to see the Sox logo on my milk cartoon, cereal box, newspaper and son's forehead :)

Check out my latest article on MaineSportsNetwork.com: I'll take two Drews for 15.5 million please, Alex, my rant about my long love/hate relationship with J.D. Drew

I can't see that happening over here! Well not the cereal box or newspaper :)

Theres different advertising laws here, one reason we don't get Total Access as various product are plastered all over everything on the show. Not bothered by it to be honest, it would certainly upset the blue half of Merseyside!

Deal is done by the way, John Henry is the new owner of Liverpool Football Club.
