Seriously, at this point we need need to batten down the hatches on what we got. Securing our O-Line would go a long way to proving that our offense could be better without Moss, even if I don't believe that yet.

If we sign Mankins we might as well add another running back and transition to a more balanced passing-rushing offense. BJGE + Taylor + 1 more solid RB + Woodhead and Morris as the FB could get it done if the line blocks 90% as well as it did against Miami.

Mankins turned down a big time Patriot offer.......

to hell with him. Connolly is filling in quite nicely.:)

Maybe you havn't noticed but this team is in the buisness of collecting draft picks. why sign him, you can get a decent draft pick for him, which can in turn be traded down for ***2*** draft picks. you can then trade those into the next year at a higher round which could then be traded for ***4*** lower round draft picks..

They are in this for april, not this or any other season.

From the reports per Schefter Mankins will return in week 11, to play the final 6 weeks of the season. Does anyone think that BB would play him though?, especially with Connolly doing a nice job so far this season

Feck Mankins

Yeah, let's ***^ing thrown 8M a year into the toilet for the next umpteen years. :confused:

Seriously dude, do you even watch the games? THE ONLY VALUE Mancow holds at this point is to package him with a 2nd or a 3rd to bring in an impact player.

Other then that, Mancow is a distraction at this point. Connelly is fine.

Why waste the money ? Dan Connelly is having a great, great year, at 1/20 th the cost. We don't need Mankins.

The team just dumped one malcontent player, so I doubt we're about to throw a ton more money at another malcontent player.

You have to remember that both sides have to agree. It isn't like the FO didn't bother trying to sign Mankins. There's a big discrepancy in what both sides think the deal should be.

The only way we could sign Mankins now is if he came down on his asking price or we raised our offer to him, and both are very unlikely. Mankins will most likely be back after week 10 so he gets credit for this season.

What compensation would we get for mankins at the end of the season? Comp picks in the 2012 draft?

Didn't Gruden get in trouble for not playing Keyshawn? Don't remember the particulars on that but the dynamics seem similar.

it's not going to happen the pats just gave Brady, 20 million they will not gave out any more big money untill they see what happens with the CBA

Mankins, will be back week 7 or 8 so he can become a FA next year. and then the pats will let him walk.

MAYBE a 2012 3rd (untradeable) at best unless we signed FAs of coparable value which nukes the pick

Can he play WR or rush the passer?

No, if he were to return this season it would be for the final 6 games, not coming back in week 7 or 8

i did know the dead line date so it's week 11 thanks for the info

at lest they get him for one more playoff run

Mankins should make a fine backup nose tackle.

Get rid of the man baby.

He can play special teams.

Ive heard rumors that hes already said his plan is wait until the last possible moment and sign so he gets credit for the year. if this is the case, consider the patriots and their position.

As i see it, the patriots have 3 options, and none of them are particularly attractive.

1. Pay Mankins what he wants;

This is great if you dont mind spending 8-9 mill per year on a guard, the pats have reportedly already offered him around 7m y/r , keep in mind also that the offensive line is one of the strengths of this team atm with some more depth in nick Kaczur coming back you'd have an overabundance of depth at the position and be pretty close to overpaying.

2. Trade Mankins;

Convince Mankins to come in and sign him to a deal for the sole purpose of being able to trade him, he is not signed by the patriots ATM which means they cannot make any trade involving him. at this stage in the season and given the fact that he is going to want a new lucrative contract right away with his new team, the best possible draft pick you could probably get would be a 3rd or a 4th, maybe some dumb team offers you a 2nd but probably not.

3. Wait til he signs his tender late in the season.

At this point the trade deadline has passed and he would be playing simply to get out from under the restricted free arent tender next year and become an unrestricted free agent, i can only assume that he would be a bench warmer til the end unless some kind of injury happens.

#3 is the most unfortunate scenario and also the most likely, people say that all of the power is in the patriots court, but the more the season progresses, the less control the patriots have over Mankins as his value decreases.
