Manning did fine without Harrison... so why can't we do fine without Moss?

Now we have some good tight ends finally, and still have Welker. I will miss Moss, but the WR position isn't as important as the QB position, and the Raiders already shown us that. BB is confident in our Tight ends so I believe our Offense will be great still

Colts still had a Reggie Wayne.

But I agree that this offense doesn't go from #1 in scoring to below average. I still think we're a top 5 scoring offense without Randy Moss.

The Pats CAN do fine without Moss.

That does not mean the trade was good.

The two are mutually exclusive.

we have Wes Welker though who is a possesion receiver like Wayne is. both are sure catching threats... Pierre garcon stepped up to be a deep threat. MAYBE tate can

reggie wayne+same oc+same system...
it hasnt changed for all of manning's life with the colt.

this move hurts more because of youth not only in WRs but also coaches...if weis and romeo were here, you could be a little more confident

Its Randy Moss, hands down top 3 wideout to ever step on the field. Obviously hurts not having him. Thats like taking the turbo off a car, sure it can still run but it was a helluva lot faster with it on there.

the premise of this thread is off. Brady won 3 super bowls without Moss—two more than Manning has with OR without Harrison.

Manning still had Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark.

That being said, the Pats have Welker, Edelman, Hernandez, Gronkowski, and Tate. With a supporting cast of Woodhead, Lawfirm, Price, and Crumpler.

Do either of you (previous two posters) trust anyone else on the roster to run up the seam and grab an over the shoulder pass one handed for a TD vs a top 3 corner? We had a freak of nature and even if he was just playing decoy most of the game, he could make some catches only 2 or 3 guys who ever played the game could catch. I'm hoping the scheme adjustment after this trade is dramatic. The opposing team's top CB will now be on a much less player who I doubt will be doubled as much as Moss was, now freeing up a saftey.

lol because its not like Manning still had Reggie Wayne (who IMO is a top 5 receiver), Dallas Clark (top 5 pass catching TE) and Anthony Gonzales, Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie etc....Make no mistake we still have some weapons but not on that level yet.

Because Manning has a defense to back him up if his offense fails..thats why

not to mention our division is a whole lot tougher than what it was a few yrs ago

This would be extremely relevant if Seymour, Bruschi, Vrabel, Rodney, Law, etc. are all showing up in their prime to play for this year's defense.

the trade had to be done. I dont understand why the dramaqueens (not you RobAllen) on this board dont understand that. Moss was not coming back next year (his words), and was starting to display the antics he did with Minn and Oak when he did not get his way...so we got a 3rd for him.

who knows what is in store for the Pats. Do they trade for a proven WR? Do they draft one? (this years draft is deep at the WR position) Who knows. What i do know is the Pats way of doing business is proven. The system they have in place is proven. This is the only organization that is re-building but still remain competitive. No one player is above the system. We will be fine.

I hear you . . . believe me, I do. However, I would rather a receiver who is going to give me nine or ten unspectacular catches to someone who is going to give me just two spectacular, one-handed catches. That's just my opinion.

Because he had REGGIE WAYNE to fall back on. Dallas Clark helps too.
Who's our Wayne? Welker is not a deep threat he's a slot receiver who will be getting a TON more attention without Moss there to draw doubles.

Reggie Wayne.

Next question.

Brady and the Pats will do just fine without Moss. All this weepy handwringing is actually quite hilarious. I remember life before Moss and it was quite nice around here.

Not at all. Their offense is just a bit more flexible than yours, and the only team running the no-huddle even close to the efficiency of the Colts are the Saints.
