Without Moss on this team? Brady may be in some trouble if Welker isn't there to bail him out of a pass rush.

I don't see how he can be

Welker is typically already bracketed with two defenders. Do you think opponents are going to triple team him now?

Who else will they need to cover?

People who are chalking Tate up as in instant Moss replacement are delusional. That's putting it lightly

I'd say he already wasn't the same player he's been the last 3 years before the Moss trade - not that anyone should be expected to be the same threat less than a year after that injury.

No but the defense will put more defenders in the box and disrespect the deep ball, making Welker's lanes smaller and Brady's receiving windows smaller. Can you say dink and dunk?

I don't think it is a binary YES/NO, but I voted no because his output will definitely be lessened.

So you're saying you believe teams will now triple team Welker, correct?

We're going to need Tate to step up. He did make some catches Monday but he has a long way to Randy's rep.
He's going to need to make some deep completions to be a viable enough threat to keep the heat from Wes. Providing that Wes even needs that.

Welker will be the same player/option yes. Defenses have more flexibility against him and his numbers will surely take a bit of a hit though.

so far Welker has 217 yards. Time will tell.

Not triple, but you can't pretend like defenses weren't more concerned with Moss

Welker is now the biggest offensive threat. He will be the focus of opposing defenses, we'll see very quick how effective he is without Moss dragging players downfield

He ll be looked the same by Brady, but I expect lots of INT going for him cause now he can even be 3 covered

Will he still be productive, yes. Will he be the same players/as productive, IMO no.

I think this is two different questions really.

Will he be the same player? Absolutely. He's a tough SOB who will give it his all, run the same routes, play just as hard and he'll get his catches, even if that number goes down a little bit (which it was going to this year anyway with more weapons and the injury).

Will he be the same option? Not quite. Different DBs will cover him now, and focus will shift from Moss to him. He won't be the safety valve/3rd down guarantee that he has been, unless the offense gets pretty creative.

His name is Hernandez.

do people not see him on the field or what??:bricks:

he will be used as both a tight end and a wide receiver.

quote me

If this team likes chips they will have plenty of them now. Everyone and their mother will be shooting down Brady, Welker, Hernandez and the overall offense. The Patriots are going to be major underdogs in just about every game.

He will be down at the minimum 50% in productivity. We lose big time but we build for the future and I see us as World Champions in our never ending contest to have the most Draft picks of all time!!!!Yea!!!
DW Toys

He'll be productive, but he won't produce as well as we're used to.

Defenses will be able to jam the lanes more now, but Brady will continue to go to him as the only open receiver. Welker will be injured before 12/1...
