The official "Moss emotions watch" thread

Moss played Decoy; from what little I could tell from the game they routinely doubled him. I don't care about his fantasy production, I care about his contributions to the offense. If he takes 2 defenders away, that's great, 9 more to cover 4 other potential other receivers (one of which is Welker who also requires double teaming) and rush the passer.

He did his job.

If anything the team shows it will continue to win games even if moss is gone next year,it's a positive more than a negative with him getting 0 tonight

Unless Moss creates problems with the team, I couldn't care less what his emotions are on the sidelines. I think people are overreacting to this. I am sure he isn't happy he wasn't a factor tonight, but that is a lot different than him causing problems or giving up.

Wow you really are smart... Moss Having 0 catches while on the field really does mean we are fine with him OFF the field... You should be the next HC of the Pats because you clearly know so much

I was asked to be that in 1998 but Carroll out cheerleadered me so I was left out :(

Some of you people are down right sad. Go be Oakland or Jets fan or something, just get the hell out of here. :bricks:

You and others dont seem to understand that although Moss didnt show up in the stat sheet, what is value to the team was. Moss was consistently doubled tonight, this creating good match ups for the teams other WRs and TEs. Moss just being on the field makes his teammates look better by creating good match ups. If Moss was gone and not on the field you wouldnt see Pats WRs and TEs as open as they were

I know what you are getting at but I really think the TEs and nucleus of WRs on this team have enough talent to overcome a loss next season if randy decides to leave, which I hope he doesn't but it's a business

if moss leaves, welker will get triple teamed... nobody else is a threat anymore... grow a brain

I wouldnt go that far...Tate showed what he can do tonight when he gets single coverage. Hernandez has shown what he can do especially after he catches the ball

Yup...and we will sure find out if this is true or not...soon enough next year...

IMHO Patriots wont sign him...he's too old...and its not the front office MO to pay the old guys...

The ONLY thing that was a positive out of the game was Vontae's play on Moss. I was at the game, and was mainly focused on Vontae b/c you don't get to watch the secondary on TV.

We don't ever swap the sides of the field with our CBs, except when we play you b/c of the respect we have for Moss. And Vontae honestly shadowed him all game.

Moss had multiple defenders paying attention to him all night. If a defense is going to dedicate that kind of attention to a single player, you have got to look elsewhere. Credit to Brady for not taking the bait and forcing it to Moss.

In retrospect, the gameplan by the Fins was pretty misguided. After the first clunker possession, the Pats drives were:

Punt, but only after a holding penalty brought back a huge Hernandez gain
FG after getting down to the Fins 5 on a 16 play, 9 min gut punch
FG, but only because time ran out on them
TD, though not much of a drive after the blocked punt
TD, with Brady barely breaking a sweat slicing down the field
2 drives where the Pats weren't trying to score

That's it. The Pats barely had 50 plays of real offense. Moss knows the Fins were taking him out of the game. Moss also knows that comes at a price. Total number of passes defensed by the Fins tonite? Nada.

Brady? Faulk? they both got paid... jesus

It wouldnt surprise me if the Pats do resign him. If Moss is offered a deal, with reasonable money I cant see any reason for him to turn it down. Who wouldnt want to finish their career with Tom Brady throwing to them and have a legitimate chance of winning a championship?

Mmmm...Brady is Brady and Faulk?

Patriots re-signed RB Kevin Faulk to a one-year, $2 million contract, including a $1 million signing bonus. He gets a $1M salary and can earn another $1M through incentives.

I think Moss is looking for a better deal than that...

You must be missing the brain here...Tate has looked decent and the two TEs look like future stars......are you watching another team because I see lots of talent on offense.

moss so far is a decoy,if moss does not have an outstanding year with 1,000 yards or more do you really think they will resign him?,I don't

Not to sure about that. Was at the game and while we surely had some cover 2 looks sometimes, from what I saw at the game we ran a lot of cover 1 with the outside WRs on islands.

Moss is arguably the best WR of all time... so what difference is Brady from Moss?

yeah hate on Moss more...

per tomcurran on twitter

Randy Moss very upbeat in the locker room despite only seeing one ball thrown his way. We had a conversation. That's not frequent.

Moss is working his ass off for what it's worth. Hasn't seen a throw but he's not dogged a route I've seen

time to close this topic for now i think

When looking at the drives, look at the scoring. 3 TDs came from special teams failures, in probably the worst special teams performance I've ever seen.

And we weren't constantly throwing multiple defenders at Moss. Played a lot of cover 1 tonight.
