...the Patriots would be IN!

and the Colts would not.

Clearly, they are the team of the decade. :D

...

Or more to the point, I can't believe there will be 3 games to watch before the Pats play again.

The Colts may win every single game left in this season. It's pathetic how easy they have it while we get every tough opponent in this league.

The schedule rotation is set years in advance. The Colts may have it easy this year, but they'll get slammed with a tough schedule another year.

Look how easy the AFC and NFC west teams have it.

in theory thats how it works but it doesn't seem to work like that just seems when the colts have the hard teams they are in down years when the pats get them they are a SB threat.

but then again i could be nuts

It should be adjusted by playoff progress.

The Colts still have the Chiefs who are 3-0 (although could be a fraud undefeated team), Eagles, Chargers, Patriots, Cowboys, Titans, and Texans on their schedule. They don't have the hardest schedule going, but far from the easiest. I doubt they will go undefeated the rest of the way especially since they are not a complete team (still have defensive problems and problems running the ball when they aren't facing the Giants' defense which is about as bad as the Pats' defense) and haven't really beaten anyone. They have beaten the Giants who have been horrible this year and the Broncos who might be middle of the pack, but no higher.

if the playoffs were to start after week 1, how many rungs up the tie-breaker ladder would they have to go to figure out seeding for 16 1-0 teams? I mean, there would be like 5 round coin flips right? Maybe coin flips to determine who gets to be in the coin flip final?

the season ticket holders would be pissed.

Who cares?

The next Super Bowl that Indy wins that doesn't include a formal, written Letter of Apology to Ellis Hobbs for a blatant ~ and deciding ~ bit of cheating on the Ref's part...will be the first one.

You complain how easy they have it, yet they still own the Pats in the last 5 years.

To Peyton,

Hey there big man! I heard you had another tough game yesterday afternoon. Don't get your hopes up. I remember when I was just another one ring QB in the rat race for a second title. I just want you to know that I think you show great promise and drive, and with a little hard work, maybe you could hold the single season touchdown record someday.

I know you love to prepare for games, so if you want to stop by Sun Life Stadium tonight and watch me go to work, maybe even jot down a couple of notes, I think that would be really beneficial. I could even go over them with you afterward and answer any questions you might have. Wish you all the best!

Your pal,
Tom Brady

I tend to think this is a problem of perception and homerism. The Colts seem to have no trouble with a lot of teams that give that Pats fits, such as Denver and Miami, who they've streamrolled during the regular season. I'd hardly call the Jets and Dolphins elite teams of this decade... I think they are comparable to Jacksonville and Tennessee while Houston and Buffalo have been overall miserable.

If the playoffs were to start today, tomorrow patsfans.com would crash due to traffic overload, because: "Butler sucks, mccourty was a disappointment", "we have no pass-rush", "we can't stop the run", "our safeties are freelancing all the time", "ghost is ovverrated", "the emperor was an overdraft", "brady has lost his clutchness", "randy has lost a step", "our o-line is old, injury prone and got owned", "our play-calling was horrible".

choose whichever argument you like the most.

If the playoffs were to start today, it would the first time in the history of the NFL that the playoffs started on a Tuesday.

I don't have a link for that but I'm pretty sure that I'm right.

If the playoffs were today.....

Yeah, I know, I know they aren't but here is where we stand....

AFC:

#1 seed Jets AFCE
#2 Pitt AFCN
#3 Texans AFCS (better div record than Colts, better conf record than Titans)
#4 KC AFCW
#5 NEP
#6 Ravens (better conf record than Titans)

So NEP would be playing at KC.
