Lots of homer in that article :)

If he is right about HALF of his predictions,I will be satisfied

why does this team not have a chant........or do they and i dont know it.....like it realllly bothers me

i mean even the nj jets have j-e-t-s suck suck suck and its so catchy :(

i just thought ide add what i think about the ne pats

This article must be for the really casual fan because everything is so obvious to us.

When a team is favored in Vegas, it's hard to predict they'll win in an upset victory.

I have less optimism about the defense and have a hard time chalking it up to all mental errors. Let's look at the QB ratings of opposing QBs against them compared to other teams this year:

Palmer
92.5
60.1
53.3

Sanchez
56.4
124.3
120.5

Fitzpatrick (only one game, so I'll use Edwards' stats for the other two; I know it's not apples to apples, but it shows Buffalo's passing game)
73
37
92.4

It's scary to think what will happen when they face a good offense.

What he said was right now they're lost, out of place and they need time. Now this remains to be seen, but I don't think he's completely wrong either. Some of it's talent, some of it is the inexperience the D has.

I will say this. The last 2 seasons, the D never had a late season turnaround like people expected. They probably got a little better but not by much. The defense kept the 08 squad out of the playoffs and never changed last year. I'm sure everyone remembers the way that team ended the regular season.

So I do think a lot of the people saying the D is young it will get better (they're talking like it's suddenly going to become good enough to rely on) are the same ones who were beating that drum the last 2 seasons. I do think this squad had a much better chance to improve than the last 2 years because it's a more talented squad. That said, I don't know how much more talented.

That article really started looking ridiciulous when he tried convincing you that Brace is become an effective player (6 tackles, 4 of which came in one game. Yippie, he's on the field. Hold your horses folks, because that's about all you can say for him right now) Or when he tries saying Tate is "showing signs of being a potential go to WR in the future" That line really makes me wonder what the hell he's watching.

Another thing with that article, it sounds pretty ridiculous him trying to defend merriweather. Somehow I have a hard time believing Belichick still makes that pick in 07 if he had a crystal ball that told him down the road, in his 4th season you're still trying to teach that idiot how to play in the scheme and not free lance. Merriweather's been a huge upset. His terrible play is killing this secondary, because he's getting beched for a player that has no business seeing the field. Than when he does come again, he'll make some plays and blow 10 others. Hard to feel good about him right now.

The defense kept the 08 squad out of the playoffs

How do you figure? An 11-5 team with a backup QB at the helm the whole year, doesn't make the playoffs on a fluke circumstance (remember, 11-5 got us a BYE WEEK in 2001), and that's on the defense?

In Pittsburgh, they use stats to homer every arguement. New England fans use stats to reverse homer everything.

What was Palmer's QB rating before the Pats went up 31-3?

Sanchez did much better against the Dolphins and the Dolphins actually moved the ball in the second half.

Use Trent Edwards? Ummm he's been cut. Based on that, who do you think the Bills blame for offensive ineptitiude- Trent Edwards or the other 10 players not named Trent Edwards?

man, I'm sick of all the bad talking around here..Stop saying the D is bad, we all know it needs work..Its just like when everyone kept saying how there was "no way" welker made it back before week 10..stop with the negativity. It helps nothing.

When insults start flying, sure. But these kind of posts right here annoy the hell out of me. We're discussing the issue at hand, nothing wrong with that is there? The D has issues, we're discussing it. It's that simple. If you don't wanna read the negativity, don't open the thread.

Did you see that secondary? ONCE Thomas went down in november, our D was as bad as ever. No one steppped up that season in the secondary. Delta O'Neal was one of our corners, he was terrible like Butler is right now.

Cassel started playing at a pro bowl level after the San Diego game. it was the defense that never become a good unit that year. The same defense that got wrecked in losses to the Jets or Fins, any of which could have put the Pats in the playoffs.

9. Ron Brace is starting to show improvement. We barely saw him on the field last season. I have seen him in on some plays so far this season. Most important though he is being trusted to be playing in meaningful situations with the team.

In three games he has 6 tackles. It is not a huge number but it is a start. He actually had 4 tackles against the Jets. If Brace does become a solid contributor on the line, that will be another young player to watch out for in the future.

This is one of the things that I'm most excited about this season. When he started taking reps there in mini-camp, it put a smile on my face. For one, he had trimmed down to the appropriate size of a two-gapping 3-4 DE and, for another, he always had loads of potential (in spite of what the naysayers around here were spouting off about him). If Brace keeps improving from game to game, we could have a solid starting defensive line in 2011 with Warren-Wilfork-Brace and it would all be eliminate the need to draft a DE early on. I'm also high on Deaderick as well. Brace is definitely someone I will be constantly watching going forward.

Oh yeah P - A - T - S .... Pats, Pats, Pats ... that would be way gay.

Now if we could get the Minutemen firing off some volleys more often I would be interested.

Ahhhh the 2008 defense was 10th in yardage and 8th in points. That means it was a top quarter defense and allowed 7 then pitched a shutout the last two games.

That's the reality on earth in 2008; so it's reasonable to assume there are two different realities being discussed.
