I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Not a secret. This defense has been making mediocre QBs look like all pros for a while now. Lots of new faces on D, but so far same results.

We will be much better as soon as Belichick starts using Moss as a DB, we be leading the leauge in picks and passes defended.

NO, NO, NO!!! There's nothing wrong with this defense! All is well!

I think people need to give our secondary a break. If you have no pass rush, QBs like Sanchez are going to look like HOFers. Half the secondary problem stems from the lack of our front 7 getting pressure on the QB. Peppers would have been the answer but we have other guys on the team who keep whining about wanting more money and we have to pay them.

Throws outside the numbers tend to be outs and 5-15 yard hitch routes. Those are 3 step drop type plays. No pass rush in the universe is able to consistently get pressure against a 3 step drop. It's about the DBs (Butler) giving 10 yards of cushion and giving mediocre QBs the opportunity to make an easy throw.

I think I read somewhere that Gary Guyton was wicked fast! Maybe we can use him at corner!?

Don't get too excited, might just be a rumor, but I heard the pats were hammering out a deal with this guy:

When the Lions are ranked higher than you on defense IN ANY AREA you know you have problems

Yet some here almost hilariously think this will be a top 15 defense by week 16

This defense is more than a few weeks away from getting out of the bottom,a year or two more likely - until then sit back and hope Brady puts 35 on the board every game.

And we badly need him, he's even taller than Hobbs so thats good.

why don't they play more bump and run? butler is not very good unless he the play is in front of him. he does not have the recovery speed if the guy goes by him.

I watched AFC Playbook last night on NFLN and they showed the problems the Pats are having with WRs is not all CB related, as we all know defense is a team effort. It has nothing to do with the Pats having no speed on the outside or on defense, it actually has all to do with having speed and youth which causes them to take false steps and be out of position. They all bite hard on play action and fly like hungry dogs to a meathouse to the the ball which is creating spaces for WRs, TEs and RBs to operate. They showed a couple of examples of Spikes and Chung bitting real hard on play action and the WRs and TE's simply got to that space and were wide open. Same thing with Butler at CB, bites hard on play action and gets caught looking in the backfield while the WR flying past him for catch or TD. Remarkable part was Butler recovering enough to even be in the frame of the shot. It was the same thing with running plays, team use influence action to fool our young defenders.

Yep, couldnt agree more.

Darius Bustler is afraid to get burned deep and needs to play that way.

I'm not a fan of the "10-yard cushion", but I understand the reasoning.

If the coaches are concerned that the corners can't cover against the deep ball, and they're concerned that the safeties can't cover well enough to provide help over the top (such as in cover 2) then there aren't a lot of of good coverage options.

Hopefully the secondary will improve quickly.

It's really irrelevant where they are ranked now. We all knew/know this defense was/is a work in progress. That comes with youth, at some point the switch had to be made. McGinest, Rodney, et al couldn't play forever. In any case, that's the past. The future is with the young guys on this defense and I do feel as though the talent is there, we all need to give them time. Most of these players have 3 games experience or slightly longer going into last season. It's not going to be perfect all the time but they will get there, my hope is by Week 10-12 the light comes on and they start to play smarter.

Chad Henne will have a career night:rolleyes:Gotta put some type of pressure on him if these CBs cant stick to the wrs.
