I heard on EEI that supposedly the Ravens thought they had a deal in place to cut him temporarily and bring him back. After they cut him, he turned tail and went to the Jets.

If true, Ravens must be mighty pissed.

The Ravens seem to think he did. As did the Jets. For us, the only thing I was skeptical about was his ability to fit into a two-gapping 3-4. But, at this point, we need all we can at DE.

Well, he has played three games for the Ravens this season and has done absolutely nothing.

Pretty **** move on his part, IMO, and I'd be pretty steamed if I were the Ravens.

edit: Actually, it appears Newsome knew he was going to the Jets. So I don't know how that bears on the whole situation.

I said this on another thread, but I'm not sure why the Pats didn't sign him, if for no other reason than they play the Ravens in a few weeks, and they could have Lawyer Milloyed them.

We'll just have to see if the Jets are stupid enough to cut any more Woodhead types. Their roster size isn't infinite.

Even though the guy is 35 years old his stats aren't too bad.

Mostly though, if the Ravens wanted him back and the Jets wanted him for their already stacked defense then there must be something there.
We, on the other hand are pretty week at both ends.
Another question of course, would be, how effective a DE would he be in a 3/4 alignment.
So maybe I am being premature in inferring his success as a Pats DEPR.
Wonder if BB even wanted him. I will hold his opinion above all in this forum.

His stats are 1 tackle all season.
If the Ravens wanted him they wouldnt have cut him, and I dont know how you can call the Jets 'already stacked' at a position where a 40 lb underweight bust Vernon Ghoston is getting reps.

Plus, even if the Patriots had wanted him, it was his choice whom to sign with.
