Huh? Is there one lunatic who rates all of them? Or do people actually do this all the time? I look at the titles, read some, maybe post in a few here and there, but rate them VERY rarely. So where do these stars come from? I'm sorry, but frantically clicking away on the stars seems a little anal to me...."don't look at this one! It's one star!!" Yeesh. Go away already.

(I'm now going to rate this thread one star, so don't bother, rating psycho. I just don't get it.)

I just blocked all the ratings, so I never see them. The one-star bandit's apparently been at it for some time.

Eh, I've noticed it. But, frankly, I don't pay attention to the ratings anyway.

If I could rate posters, you'd get one star

I didn't even know that was possible! Brilliant!

I've had these very same troubling thoughts for the last couple weeks. What's worse? I somehow feel that I click on the lower star count threads less frequently, and I shouldn't.

I hope we get answers!

When people rate threads one star, it is often the same as name calling on a thread, or belittling another poster's opinion. Some people are in so much pain that causing pain to others, in a small way, helps alleviate some of their own.

Try not to take it personally, just use the ignore button liberally.

its easy to ignore...just ignore it

I'll admit when I saw somebody rate the "Predict the Score" thread with one star, I reacted by giving it five stars. Alamo puts a whole lot of time into that for the benefit of a large group of people who participate. Seeing one star next to that thread just didn't seem right to me.

I'm guessing that there is either a disgruntled forum member or a fan of an opposing team that has taken it upon himself to rate every thread he sees with one star, in some feeble attempt to make him feel better about himself by getting under the skin of others. And then probably what happens after that is that others react like I did by giving the thread another rating because it didn't really deserve 'one star'. Looking through the threads on page one just now all the threads with one star have only one rating; all the others have more than one rating.

In other words somebody is rating every thread with one star, and then others are reacting.

I suppose the questions are this then: should the forum just ignore the one-star bandit, and let him give one star to every thread he doesn't like? Would the collective silence make him go away? Would you prefer seeing a page full of one-star rating?

Yeah seriously, it's kinda pissing me off. I wasn't going to start a thread about it but I did notice this. I only rate a thread when it is either really good or terrible.

So there's a thread ninja on Patsfans.com, eh?

Maybe I'll one star all the threads I can, just to steal his thunder.

Just one more anal retention thread to dwell on ...

How about those coordinators or how's the trade Brady thread going?

I've noticed that most of the "positive" threads are rated highly while the "negative" threads have a lower rating. Some people are just too sensitive about others' negative critiques of the Pats and will rate threads one star maybe with the hope to discredit the thread. Whatever. I like to hear everyone's opinion. Which is also why I think people who put others posters on their "ignore" list are cowards.

muahahhahaha!

The rating system should be public.

I think I may ad-block the stars as well.

I rate threads...the **** ones get a 1 star just for kicks. Oh and by **** i mean

There is a serial thread rater among us and it has been going on for months if not a year. It is the same kind of criminal master mind that will T.P. homes or set a bag of dog poop on fire and ring a doorbell.

We have been on hunt for this perp but so for he's been cunning. He will make a mistake one day, as they all do, and then we will bust him.

We can only ask that you keep you eyes open. If you see a poster who acts like Butters most of the time but then occasionally posts like an arch villian, we could be very close.

Ha ha, I don't think there are any thread rating gnomes running around incessantly 1-staring threads. I think it is simply a matter of human nature. If you see a thread you don't like, you 1-star it as an outlet to your annoyance. If you see a thread you do like, you forget there is a rating system as you are engrossed in the thread and busy posting.

It is just more common to complain than to give praise (as is clear from the majority of our thread content )
