Is it more likely that by the end of the regular season....

The Pats Offense maintains thier current rate of 30 PPG enroute to 480 or more points scored?

OR

The Pats Defense maintains thier current rate of giving up 28 PPG on average and allowing 440 or more points?

Re: More likely by the end of the season....

Both will likely go down, but the defense will improve far more than the offense will decline.

Re: More likely by the end of the season....

The defense's PPG allowed will drop by more than the offense's PPG. Defense is young, stands to improve more.

I wonder what the record is for most points allowed in a season? I think it was 533....I would think the 2008 Lions are up there, actually they aren't any better right now.

The defense would have to give up 34.7 PPG for that to happen...

Re: More likely by the end of the season....

Out of the 13 remaining games, the offense will probably struggle to put up points against the Jets (again), Ravens, Packers, Bears, and Miami twice. As of right now it doesn't take a good offense to put up 28 points against us so Im going with the later sadly.

I think the offense will continue rolling as long as we do what we should be doing. And i think the defense will improve a lot but we can't expect to have a top 5 defense this season.

I don't think we'll struggle to put up points against the Bears and Dolphins (outside of maybe the game in Miami for reasons other than the defense they're going against). However, I agree with the general point you're trying to make.

Forgot to add neither

Re: More likely by the end of the season....

the pats just gave up 30 points to the worst offense in the NFL im sure there are a few teams like Green bay or indy who will put up 40 + on this defense

so unless they find someone other then TBC to be a big time pass rusher thats what this D will give up 25 to 28 points a game

23 points actually.

Pats defense is averaging 25 points a game against. Not sure where 28 is coming from.

28 is average PPG and is ranked 27th total D out of 32 teams

I think by December the Defense will settle down and jell and the points allowed will go way down.

I don't believe that even this mess of a defense will allow 533, but the team record of 446 is def. in play.
All it need do to break this record is to continue to allow a shade under 28 ppg.

I agree. Not much of a question about that, barring injuries of course.

The question I have is by that point will we still be contending for a playoff berth? Much more complicated question at this point.
