Either that or there's no agreement and this is the owners posturing giving themselves yet another chip to cash in and potentially "give up" in negotiations with the players... but I suppose I'm just cynical like that

+1. Once 2-and-18 has been implemented and around for a while, fans will look at the days of 4-and-16 the way we look at the days of 6-and-14: A what-were-they-thinking anachronism.

I am deeply concerned by Roger Goodell's judgement.

The 18 game schedule, away games in London, inconsistent punishment system, etc.

He's destroying the league, and we won't realize it until several years from now, the same way the NHL looks back and realizes it screwed up but didn't know it at the time.

The NFL is stronger now than it has been in decades, perhaps even stronger than ever. So, with all due respect, it is silly to say Goodell is "destroying the league."

Of course, the players and owners may seriously damage the league over the next 12 months or so... and Goodell's tenure may very well be defined during that time period. But thus far, he has proven to be a very good commissioner.

IMHO, it is a no brainer that teams will get an additional bye, as well as expanded rosters. I also would not be surprised to see a revised "injured reserve" where a player can be placed on the IR list for a limited period instead of it automatically being season ending.

And also, honestly, they should dissolve up to 4 franchises (I know it will never happen).

what i am going to hate is what if a team clinches week 14 or 15 and now has to waste 3-4 weeks and allow other teams (jets) to sneak into the playoffs again
