OT: Bills release QB Trent Edwards

Edwards has had 3+ years to prove that he belongs.

In 2008 the Bills started 5-1 then collapsed, so they gave him TO, and the wound up worse.

Edwards is a decent backup, nothing more.

We continue to give Scrub QBs reason for hope:(

The guy was horrible. I didn't know why they went with him anyway. The guy is the king of the check downs.

what is amazing is not that they gave up on Edwards, but that in the offseason, when there was a QB-rich draft and many options available on the trade market, they steadfastly proclaimed that Edwards was their guy.

dumb organization

I for one feel badly. My next door neighbor flew in Vietnam with Edwards' Dad. Hopefully 3 seasons in the NFL gave him a nest egg for his next career.

I'm sure he will end up on someone's roster.

He will probably be a Jaguar or Brown by the end of the week...those 2 teams can use a vet QB

He'll be signed to someones roster as a 3rd QB, or even a #2 on some team.

Actually the Bills intend on keeping 3 QBs

With Edwards vacant spot the Bills plan on re-signing QB Levi Brown today

Nobody always gets it right, but this one was easy to call as far as the QBs. The success record, not so much:

Pennington
Clemens
Losman
Edwards
Lemon
Beck

That's the 6 quarterbacks that the Patriots face twice a year. That's why New England can be penciled in for winning 6 games in division every year for the near future. Pennington is the only on on that list that's got any real past or future in this league, and his shoulder injuries have made him far less dangerous than he used to be.

Wow, that was a bad bunch at QB.

Its too bad, the Bills benched him before he could go up against the Pats defense. If he would have played, they would be signing him for a big contract extension today.

He's probably pissed he was benched yesterday...he probably would have looked like a superstar if he played.

Edwards was terrible. The reason why the Bills showed up on offense yesterday was largely due to our defense being the worst they've faced, but don't underestimate how much of an upgrade Fitzpatrick is from Edwards. Just by being better than garbage, he's an improvement.

I think Fitz could become a legit starter. Even with his limited NFL experience, he had a good day against a weak defense yesterday. How did he lose the game? Mistake #1 was throwing high, on a play where he was rushed, well pressured by the Pats OLB Cunningham. Even top QBs toss picks like that. Late in the game behind and under pressure to make something happen, he throws high again, totally his own fault. Nice atheletic pick by Merriweather. That mistake does not make him unfit for the NFL.

We all heard how bad our D was because the Jests scored so much. Then the Jests scored more on Miami (Miami has a great defense - right?) without Edwards for a quarter of the game. Watch Buffalo next week against the Jests, Buffalo's offense will be better than expected for a second week in a row. Gailey might not be a head coach but he is a good offensive coordinator.

to be honest i'd take fitz over sanchez and not just cause sanchez is a jet. he throws a better long ball is more accurate and more athletic.

the bills should have been playing him anyway.

Admirable sentiments, though of course he's good to go.
