Nice to see us being toasted all game. Now he can join the long list of "Cover Corners" we've had down the years.

Kyle Arrington was a special teamer brought in last season. The coaching staff decided to see if he had anything to show as a legit DB prospect against one of the league's worst offenses. He doesn't.

Comparing Kyle Arrington to Duane Starks is hilarious.

Dude, please find another forum to post on. Because you suck.

I actually thought he looked okay for a random dude making his first career start.

He wasn't good; but he wasn't terrible!

damn, give credit where credit is due. the guy had a decent game and was not constantly victimized like butler was. Hell Butler had crucial mistakes in this game and was taken out for the rest of the game i believe. The only criticism of arrington i can give today was he started to fear lee evans speed and gave a big cushion and gave up only ONE big catch. Maybe he was tired from trying to catch spiller.

and thus starts (and ends) Kyle Arrington's career as a starting CB

Perhaps.

Wilhite seems like the likely alternative as he was last year.

What crucial mistakes did Butler make in this game?

This looks to me like one of the most contorted posts ever.

He's making it up. He says Butler made crucial mistakes, and then is unsure if he was taken out.

Don't talk horse-sh*t.

It seems somewhat sad to be reduced to hoping that Wheatley is available soon.

Sanders, Wilhite, and whoever was at RCB were the obvious soft spots in the defense today. It seemed as if all of the completions were either in front of the RCB, in front of the nickel CB and safety.

For a special teams guy, Arrington whiffed on some significant tackles. McCourty didn't stand out in coverage, but having a player who could actually tackle really helped out.
As for the safeties...
Meriweather was not particularly sharp today, but he made up somewhat with a few key plays. Chung was what you'd expect, a monster but made one or two coverage errors. Page was iffy.

Secondary is having a tough time because we can't generate a pass rush at all. Butler had some mistakes today, both in run D and pass coverage, he is having a tough 2nd season. Page whiffed on an opened field tackle as did Sanders. Arrington didn't look bad nor did he stand out but he was better than Butler so he has that going for him. Wilhite just stinks and is always playing catch up. Merriweather had a brain fart on the TD to Spiller as he took the worst possible angle. Chung didn't give McCourtey the over the top help on his TD pass. Bottomline this D is going to be inconsistent all year until the following is achieved:
1) Consistent pass rush
2) Experience

Or glass half full...it's nice when our top veteran corner is hurt and our second year guy has struggled, that we still have a starting caliber (IMO, certainly more than Butler right now) corner available without trade.

We tried out a special teamer fer crissakes. BB is going to give the quick hook to guys struggling mentally, that's a good approach with a young team. Hopefully Butler and Meriweather get their heads out of their asses during practice and start playing their roles and being instinctive.

I wouldn't mind an Otis Smith, Artrell Hawkins type veteran to show these guys how to play hard and stay loose.

Wheatley to RCB and Butler to the slot?

I thought it was sad having to wait for Brace, too. But that worked out alright.

I think Wheatley is a starting corner. Butler is having confidence problems, so whatever Dr. Belichick thinks. I actually think Wilhite, who is a horrible starting corner, is good in the short area.

Really? His ST play sucked. And sucks when he's not on the first team D.

He was toasted by the Bills recievers. Thats the Bills recievers. I'd have given him a break had it been well.... nigh on any other WR corps. But the Bills !!!! ??? !!! Roscoe Parrish and Lee Evans (who took in in turns to line up on him) looked like V-Jax and Roddy White FFS.

I concur, there should be a rule that you have to be either 21, or have followed the team for a minimum of 5-7 years to weed out all the nitwits.
