The Pats are playing the lowly Bills at home, coming off a tough division loss. in all likelihood they'll punch the Bills right in the junk and send them home considering a fire-sale. And what will it prove?

Not much.

I fear we kill the Bills, creating false illusions of issues fixed and go into Miami for another epic throttling. In primetime. Going 2-2 and 1-2 in the division would be a VERY tough start this young team that's sorting themselves out.

I feel like we need to see a Bills team that's gotten up for this game to know if we have anything. But maybe that would be even spookier.

Anyway, the game feels kind of automatic-win for the Pats. I personally wish we were playing a tougher team, from an evaluation perspective. I guess from a fan POV a beat-down would be nice to watch.

Anyone else got that odd vibe coming from this game?

Youre not gonna prove anything in week 3. Just enjoy the game.

I think if the team struggles...that proves something.

I dunno. I think weeks 3-4 are pretty critical. Especially with 3-in-a-row divisional contests.

I don't really like playing Buffalo. Its like a major college team playing a small school. Anything less than a convincing win by the Patriots is disappointing. A loss is inexcusable. And watching Buffalo suck year after year makes it hard to get excited about the game.

It's a long season. Remember, we were looking at 12-4 and 11-5 last year (the Houston game was a throwaway). We felt good after demolishing the Titans.

Strap on your belts, it's going to be an up and down year, and we will likely have learned very little right up until the playoffs.

In many ways, the Jets are the new face of the NFL: total inconsistency.

This game will prove a lot. The Bills are still an NFL football team and if we play good it doesn't prove that we are good in week 3 but it is a good sign. Now if we play bad that is a bad sign... a really bad sign. So go into this game looking for the Pats to s#1t all over the Bills.

Its either one in the W column or one in the L column, thats it.
How you play one week vs one team rarely gives any clear clue of how you will do another week against a different team.

NO, THE SKY IS NOT FALLING....

However this is a pretty big game for our team. They need to win authoritatively. If they lose this game, making two AFC east losses, that is not cool.

Our run defense is good. If the Bills move the chains and sustain some drives against the pass AND the run...not good.

I think we are expected to win this game, I think we need to approach this game with a no prisoner attitude.

If we win, fine we are supposed to. But if we lose, that is not gonna sit well with the fans or this team.

Go out there and win big today, and move on...lets see some improved play calling today.

Great post. This sums up the way I have been feeling all week!

Not sure if anyone remembers, but my bold prediction this season is the Pats/Phins/Jets race will be decided by Buffalo. They will likely win 1-2 games in the division. The team(s) that lose are playing at a huge disadvantage when you consider the talent is fairly even between the three contenders.

Same here. There's really nothing great that can come out of this game besides no injuries. If we blow them out it's status quo. If we win by a little or lose in any form the criticizing will continue. I'd always rather play a playoff contender coming off a loss.

The Patriots would not want to start 0-2 in the division under any circumstances. This is a game at home vs. a division rival. If this game isn't critical, I don't know what is.

I think the expectation is that the other 3 teams will sweep the Bills and split with each other. Therefore, among the 3 contending AFCE teams -- Jets/Pats/Fins -- the team that can come up with even one road win against one of the other two teams becomes the favorite to win the division, IMHO.

In 2003, in the midst of our long winning streak, the almighty Patriots beat the Cleveland Browns 9-3 at Gillette!

Folks, it's just one game!!!

That win over Cleveland occurred just 3 games after the team lost to the Washington Redskins. And 6 games after they were blown out by the putrid Bills.

Anyone who puts the Pats in the SB if they win today to a score of something like 40-7 is an idiot.

However if the Pats LOSE today we could be in for a long season

Its close to a no win situation looking into the future other than a division win and 2-1 record
