We have hauled in an OCEAN of Ascending Talent, the last 2 years!! All we'd need to do is spend a 3rd and a 4th on a couple of TailBacks, and this team would be absolutely LOADED!!

By the way, I'm calling this Version 1.0.

I'll probably update this about 40 TIMES, between now and late April!! :D

Carimi? :idontgetit:
Ballard? :ugh:
Pouncey? :bricks:
Quinn? :confused2:

1a: Stephen Paea
1b: Pernell McPhee
2a: ?
2b: Nate Solder (he's not worth a first raw as he is, but I can see a late second)

Well, THOSE were ~ cough, cough ~ my SECOND choices!! :D

(Googling "Stephen Paea")

Pouncey has been HORRIBLE for the gators thus far this season. He can;t even snap the ball properly. (ie: just like rookie Woody with the shot gun snap) Let the Colts draft him, he is worthless.

I like Quinn a lot however. Quality pick!

Carmini has to prove to me that he has the feet to play ROT (Vollmer to LOT). Otherwise he is less than a human turnstile. For a ROT we can wait until day 3 (sounds weird still) and pick up a talented zone blocker like Hix of Texas or a mauler like Zeimba of Auburn.

I would pass on Ballard and take a better run stuffer in round 2 like Crick of Nebraska.

Think of a defense with Ty Warren-Wilfork-Crick and then have TBC and Quinn at the OLB positions. On passing downs take out Warren and put in Wright.

Yes, he's had a nightmarish time adjusting, since taking over for the Bro, hasn't he? I'm inclined, however, to think that he'll take command, before long. He actually won SEC O Lineman Player of the Week, in between two Horror Shows.

I particularly like your comparison to Woody: If Dante can help Woody transform into a Pro Bowl Center, I really like to think he could help Pouncey complete his game. His current troubles might even work in our favor, by pushing him down the charts...

May the Gods will that the stars align on this one...

Interesting!! Well, if we can get a true impact Right Tackle on Day 3, I'd be all for it. And I'm aware that the drop off in Average Draft Position from Elite Left Tackle to potential Elite Right Tackle is precipitous, so the notion actually makes sense to me.

Frankly, my impressions are cobbled together from assessing assessments: I have not yet found the time to watch the vast reels of game tape that some of you do, so let me make that clear, lest anyone imagine that I'm fronting!! :D

However, that's not to throw myself under the bus, either: My evaluation skills are pretty damned good, as ~ for instance ~ I was hollering for both Spikes and Hernandez, early, this March, when the vast, vast majority of folks over at FF were disparaging both of them.

Lee Ziemba ~ Auburn ~ 6.6/320
Kyle Hix ~ Texas ~ 6.7/320

They've both got great size, and if they are, indeed, truly talented Tackles who are trained to Zone Block ~ and nimble enough to do it well ~ and are, in fact, available on Day 3, I wouldn't be unhappy!!

I would pass on Ballard and take a better run stuffer in round 2 like Crick of Nebraska.

Fair enough. Crick is certainly the most popular choice, there. If he puts on enough weight by March, I may well join the chorus. I have a very strong sense of Ballard, however, from what I've read. And, yes, that is all I'm going on: It's much more time efficient for me ~ at least at this point ~ to leave most of the Game Tape reading to others more expert at it than me ~ such as you and the others, hereabouts ~ and analyze what you and the countless Sites think, gradually forging my own opinion by contrasting all of yours with what History has shown us. It sounds pretty derivative and abstract ~ and it is!! ~ but it works pretty damned well, so far.

Think of a defense with Ty Warren-Wilfork-Crick and then have TBC and Quinn at the OLB positions. On passing downs take out Warren and put in Wright.

I suspect that Warren never reclaims his position, and that we already have his replacement in Ron Brace.

I'm not as gung ho on Crick as the vast majority are...Perhaps that'll change.

Frankly, I'd like to see Wright dropped down to 7th or 8th Lineman ~ I know we only keep 7. I like Wright, but I'd rather see the likes of Brace and Deaderick develop at End, and Pryor and Weston develop as Hybrids.

I'm starting to warm up to Cain, but I would still much rather have someone supplant him on Run Downs. Good Health allowed, I believe Cunningham and Ninkovich are going to surprise a lot of people, and that Cunningham is going to prove to be an impact player at Flanker.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Lots of food for thought, there, on all fronts.

Some of you won't like this one, but I don't think they make a pick that high.

Oakland pick= trade back. They could end up in a position where a player coveted by another team falls in their lap, and the other other team is willing to pay to move up. A mid 1st, a mid 2nd, and next years first.

Mid 1st - J Crick DE - No way do I see him falling into the late 1st round if he declares.

Late 1st - OT - Sherrod or Love? Someone to take over RT and move Vollmer to LT. I'm not waiting for a 4th rounder to develop. They took a LG with a late first they can take a RT.

Early 2nd - Akeem Ayers OLB - Most guys 'project' to OLB as a DE, you see this kid actually do it.

Mid 2nd - Jamie Harper RB - I predict this kid moving up the board. Big, fast, runs hard, great hands.

Late 2nd - Hankerson WR - I really like the way this kid plays. He's big, strong, and he's playing real well right now.

The next three or four picks = OC/G, S, & another RB

1a: Stephen Paea
1b: Pernell McPhee
2a: ?
2b: Nate Solder (he's not worth a first raw as he is, but I can see a late second)

#1A: Defensive End Stephen Paea ~ Beavers ~ 6.2/310

I LOVE the Trade Back!!

I'm liking your picks OTG. Not sold on Ballard yet, but Quinn, Pouncey and Carimi would surely be a sweet haul. Not on board with the BoR picks. I don't believe Paea can make it as a 3-4 end. Here's a different group of players I could see us drafting:

1a) DE Cameron Heyward
1b) G Justin Boren
2a) RB Quizz Rodgers
2b) DT Drake Nevis

Disagreement is cool; Rodgers is an underclassmen, it's his brother James coming out this year.

I've read about Boren's progress, he sounds good, I just note he has not yet cracked the top 100 for NFL Draft Scout. :confused2:

Nevis is smaller than Paea, do you see him being used as a 3-4 end?

I was wondering the same thing.

It looks like Brother Crip's either going for TWO Defensive Ends...or loading up on TACKLE...

...OR looking for Heyward to go 5% Body Fat and slim down like a MAD MAN, to go for Right Flanker ~ OLB, to you Earthlings. ;)

I LOVE Nevis. He's been SEISMIC, the last couple of weeks...But I don't know how he does in a 3-4, at his size.

Linemen are simply NOT the "PlayMakers" in a 3-4.

They're the ENABLERS.

#1 Patrick Peterson-CB LSU
#1 Marcel Dareus DE-Bama
#2 Jeremy Beal OLB Oklahoma
#2 Rodney Hudson G FL State

Give me a DE, OLB, and RB with our first 3 picks and I'll be happy.

Not sure, on the picks yet... Still forming opinions, but if DeMarco Murray is there with our first pick in the 2nd round I'd jump all over that.

Yes... DeMarco Murray is my binkie :)
