Faulk took part in morning meetings

One of the great playmakers in Patriot history. This is a huge huge loss.

Good. Whether Morris or Woodhead takes his place, Faulk will be helpful in coaching that player up to replace him.

In 40+ years of following this team, I'd put Faulk in the top echelon of playmakers I've seen, right there with Haynes, Morgan, Tippett, Grogan, Law, Brown, Mo Lewis ;), Brady, Bruschi, Moss, and Welker just to name a few that come to mind.

This team needs playmakers desperately so this is a huge loss, but even before this happened, I had the feeling that this may be Faulk's last go-around with the team. I prefer to think that this year the Pats have more younger guys with superior skills than they've had in a few years, guys like Hernandez, Gronk, Tate, and Edelman. These guys will have to step up, and I for one think they will do just that.

Kevin was the only back I thought would make next year's roster.

Now that is in jeopardy

I am expecting NOT ONE of these backs on the current roster to be here in 2011 unless BJGE runs for 700 yards or more  .....the RB rebuilding phase is going to be the highlight of the upcoming offseason

I agree with all your comments.

Pure class. Read in this mornings paper where he said he was going to bust it at rehab.

Let's not thrown dirt on him just yet. I think your thought on him being the only one to make the roster next year is STILL spot on. He'll be 35, but really, I haven't seen much of a drop off in his quickness in recent years and he was never a burner.

If I remember correctly he was on a one-year deal so I think it's possible he could re-up for one more (hopefully healthy) season.

Kevin is going to work his butt off to come back.
Having worked that hard, he's surely going to try playing again.

I HOPE that will be a lot more than a Troy Brown cameo.

And there's no reason why it shouldn't be. Assume a full year to get his knee right. Assume a slight permanent drop-off in his knee. Assume slight improvement elsewhere on his body due to the year of "rest". Athletically, he could well be like this year.

He IS getting a little less reliable on pass-catching and so on. I hope his rehab goes fast enough to give him time to get his timing back. That's a concern.

If his problem were concussions, I could see his wife saying "OK, you've had a great career, it's time to stop." But since it's in his legs, I expect him to push it as long as he can.
