So, when does the league hand down game fines? If Eric Smith doesn't get a SIGNIFICANT fine for that shot to Welker's head, I'll be hacked off. It wouldn't surprise me if Jabba Wrecks sent his guys out there with orders to knock Welker out of the game. Fits his mentality.

That play was way more dangerous than the Chung play. Goodell will likely turn a blind eye because he's a jets fanboy.

nothing will happen of any significance or consequence...Jetdell is far far too immersed in how to finagle this Edwards fiasco and ensure Braying Drunkwards stays active until the other criminal nitwit comes back from his four game suspension...with Miami 2-0 after two away games, the pressure is on the Jetdell conspiracy to ensure a Super Bowl for the Rats THIS season....if Miami gets any further ahead I expect a sudden and swift punitive "decision" aimed at the Phins with over the top ridiculous fines and slanderous accusations...just to slant the playing field back to where it should be, despite hiding a dangerous drunk driving felon and keeping him active as long as a commisioner can, no matter how many rules or laws he has to break.

If this was a Patriot that did this, Jetdell would be all over all the major sports outlets already...you ALL know this.

If this was a Patriot, we would loose the next 3 1st draft picks and the player would be banned from the NFL.

F**cking Jetdell.......

Might be a suspension in store given his history. Another bad Green Bean.

Honestly, it should be but I know it will never happen. A fine really doesn't cover this. Really, really doesn't. This shouldn't be allowed to be part of the game and to turn a blind eye condones this type of "strategy".

I wonder who the next target will be and whether or not they will still have a career ahead of them after the incident.

As I've mentioned in another thread, I don't like conspiracies, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Rex gave some incentive for his guys to target Welker. This is the son of the man behind the "bounty bowl"*.

*Google is your friend, for you youngins out there

don't take this the wrong way, Nik....if history has shown us ANYTHING in this country the past 250 years, it's that conspiracies are constantly at work in our society and that a major focus of law enforcement on all levels is to uncover and prosecute all such illegal activity. The NFL is NOT the only entity immune from this certainty in our country..it most likely is one of the worst offenders that has escaped practically unscathed due to the media constantly imprinting this "pure as the driven snow" myth that this business is beyond reproach.

It would not surprise me at all if this were true. We will never know because the commish will cover it all up....

Fines are a joke

Yes, but they are symbolic in sending a message. Besides, I'll bet Rodney would like to have back that $200k-plus (or whatever it was) that he lost in fines over his career.

Here is what bothers me:

What makes this all the more alarming to the Patriots is that Jets coach Rex Ryan said in the days leading up to the game that a big part of their strategy in containing Welker was pure and simple, “We have to hit him,” Ryan said.
full article: It Is What It Is Eric Smith

...seems pretty premeditated to me.

Sounds like football to me last time I checked this isn't two-hand tap... Hell I'll be the first to admit that hit was dirty but it happens move on it's not like Welker doesn't expect it..

Fines mean nothing after the damage is done

I wonder if Tatum was ever fined on the hit to Stingley?,It would not have mattered except for a few dollars lighter in the pocket

Sour grapes and weak knees, it's a mans game. You fly to the ball and not always with the other guys best interest in mind, these things happen

How soon you all seem to forget what a hard hitting safety does, has it been that long ago that you can not remember Rodney laying the wood?

I felt bad and worried for Welker, still I feel if Ray Lewis had hit him it would of been a non call. JMHO

I heard on the radio that someone got revenge on him but the cameras didnt catch it, I just caught the tail end of the conversation. did anybody else hear this? Not sure if it was a cheap shot or a clean hard hit.

Million dollar fine and a loss of a first round draft pick, which in and of itself, could produce millions in revenue if the pick turns out to be star material...over a memo disagreement...

as opposed to a slap on the wrist for the VISIBLE leader of a football organization...or did you forget THIS?

and now a cover-up amidst all kinds of back room chicanery to insure a vital part of the Jet offense is not missing when they play the Fins this week....or did you NOT hear of this????

Jets WR Edwards will dress despite arrest

Boozed-up Jet Braylon Edwards will take the field for Sunday's game - even after being hit with drunken-driving charges for taking the wheel with twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

yeah, the Welker hit was "just football"...and this is "just organized criminal conspiracy"....so can your snarky retorts

Flying to the ball is different from flying to the head, and your boy Smith has a history of the latter. As for Rodney, I don't remember him ever going at guys' heads.
