Kevin Faulk - RB Sep. 21 - 8:17 am et

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said only that the Patriots' medical staff was "still doing tests" on Kevin Faulk (knee).
Faulk didn't talk to the media after the game and was seen with his eyes red from tears, so it certainly seems possible that the injury is serious. Given the Patriots' disclosure regarding injuries, we won't know the severity until they absolutely have to tell us.

He is a 3rd down conversion machine. Not the worst injury to impact the Pats...

what is the word? Surely some one here has contacts?

The ticker tape down the bottom of the WBZ-TV newscast this morning cited a "close source" saying that Faulk's injury is very bad.

this unfortunate report undoubtedly means Woodhead will get a shot. He will be no Faulk..... but any idea how he can block?

Woodhead is a willing blocker, unproven, but no way is he anywhere near the accomplished blocker that Faulk is.

He's one of those irreplaceable guys, because he just has a sense for things that no one else has. How many times has he run a draw for about 1 more yard than he needed for the first down, or picked up a last minute blitz, or some other instinctual play that just makes you go "Wow!".

We may replace his roster spot, but you don't replace him. If this news is accurate of course.

Not good at all!

He's the Troy Brown of the running backs and money on 3rd down.

Man, that one is a killer.

Faulk is so clutch and has so much heart. Ultimately, I bet we can find a way to replace his production over the course of the regular season - but there is no way we can replace his clutchness & his leadership, particularly come playoff time.

I like the idea of them experimenting with Edelman as 3rd down RB. Pass pro would be the biggest issue. But it seems to be the easiest way to get all of our best weapons on the field, without completely eliminating the possibility of an RB staying home to block, or a draw play.

More spread offense!!! More tight end sets!!! Run less pass more:)

share the wealth TFB!

get well Faulk:(

It hurts bad, but it is not a killer Manny. Faulk is very good, even at this age.... but I could conjure up a list much more hurtful than that of losing Faulk.

If it's true, it's one less veteran leader that this team so desperately needs.

I believe that line is overplayed.....

When a vet falls.... other experienced players should theoretically pick up a leadership role.

Certainly production-wise, I think we can find ways around his absence. But leadership-wise, he will be irreplaceable. Someone else on that offense just needs to step up and become more vocal. Brady has picked up some slack so far this year, fortunately. I just remember Faulk leading the charge on the sidelines vs. the Ravens last year in the playoffs.

it will be 4 years before we find out about Faulk.

Sounds like IR. Why can't Edelman be the 3d down back? It seems we have an abundance of slot options now with Welker and Hernandez.

Fully expected him to be out for the season based on what I saw on Sunday. Woodhead gets his chance. Not sure if he will be back next year even if he gets healed up 100%

Thanks for the games Kevin.....definitely the epitome of a true NE Patriot.

what I've seen of Woodhead when he was on the Jets is not very promising tbh.
Looks like his straight line speed is startling, but he isnt particularly elusive, and he can't run for power and get yards after contact. Our 3rd down back needs to be able to absorb a hit and get an extra yard before he goes down. Julian Edelman is outstanding in this regard, although I worry about his durability.
Faulk was a great 3rd down back because the defense had to take him seriously as a RB between the tackles, a blocker, and as a receiver out of the backfield. Replacing him this season is not going to happen.

"Injury reports comes out Wednesday." ...

This is not good. He's THE safety valve of the offense. Gives us a lot less room for error in every aspect of the offense.
