Meriweather on why he didn't start

Maybe he's been practicing his Corner skills in and Page is gearing up to take his spot in the safety rotation. BB might feel that this is a better utilization of the current crop of DBs.

that would be crazy if he is trying to be a cb
and not crazy in a bad way

i listen to this live on weei and he sounded good and bad he was really pissed off about Edwards doing that dance in the end zone and he was talking about the D needed to start making plays

4TH YEAR!! And, he still doesn't get it. FS needs to be a cerebral player. And, if you think he is. Listen to that interview. I'm guessing he's not long for NE after this season. For you older guys, we could use a smart, CF type. Like a Fred Marion.

What does "Instead of me stopping trying them and doing what I was coached, I kept trying" mean? I thought you always do what the coaches ask? It's rare someone can freelance on a BB coached team.

i hope it gets it soon i really had hope in him coming from mami and the safteys that have came from the U

Bizarre. Maybe I'm misreading, but this reminds me of Maroney talking about trying to run the way the coaches want him to. Reinforces my feeling that BB might be getting down on him in a LoMo sort of way.

"them" = different tactics of freelancing rather than what he's coached to do.

Basically he's saying he's been trying out some adlibbing to what the coaches have taught him to do in camp but these things weren't working. He kept trying to do these things in practice rather than doing what he was coached to do. I like his self awareness, hopefully he gets it all worked out this week.

How someone talks is not always indicative of how smart they are, especially when you're talking about sports intelligence. This guy isn't paid to give speeches at the UN, he's paid to play football.

This. Meriweather is perhaps the most instinctive defensive player on this team.

His instincts got his a** benched. He talked like a teenager, sounded almost giddy. I'm not even going to mention how he talked any more. Just his demeanor was strange.

The infamous "body language" argument takes a new and terrifying twist...

I bet in practice he was always trying to make the big play whether it be a big hit or an int, which lead to him getting torched on play action and being generally out of position. Just a guess.

Cue the "he would thrive in the Jets' system" argument ...
