Since when does losing a star player (Revis) help you win a game?

In week 2, I think both sides are fantasy, to be honest. Saying they will "probably" miss the playoffs after a week 2 loss is silly. Saying they COULD miss the playoffs is one thing, but PROBABLY is a bit of an overreaction.

The first game covered a few things up,the INT for a TD and the runback for a TD on STs were the difference in that game.

The Pats have not won a game on the road that meant something in over 2 years now -they have beat only up the sisters of the poor

Its hard to think the team will do anything more than 8 wins when they have not proven they can beat the likes of the good teams, not only do they struggle on the road with teams that are playoff bound, but in the past years or so they have not been able to play hard for 4 quarters.

Unless there is a drastic turnaround,I am pessimistic about our chances in 2010 ...but the fact remains,I remain a fan longer than goofs like THEGODINAGREYHOODIE will be years down the road..he will be a Dolphins or Jets fan in less than 5 years like all bandwagonners do,I would guess he was a fan of another team before 2001...in fact I guarantee it

You are the biggest blooming bash washer on this site...

If you don't like what you read then get the hell out of my threads or use the ignore feature if you are smart enough to figure it out

I don't enjoy losses,I am a realist who knows this team is full of flaws and is AT LEAST a year or two away from being Elite, yet you sit in your little lollypop land and believe they will win the SB every year or will never lose 7 games in a season under Belichick and Brady....guess what Einstein?...its coming, they will probably miss the playoffs this year with a young defense that will take more than a few weeks to - I am objective, you are in fantasy\

I will be here when they suck again, you will move to another team who is winning

I have spent more money on Pats stuff for the last 20 years than any money you will ever see

I have been a fan through the 1990 1-15 campaigns and survived those years,I have been a fan longer than your punk azz has been alive, you were not even old enough to remember 1990 yet you have a mouth
...you know NOTHING about me.

Tell 'em how you really feel. Good post, BTW. I agree.

Going strictly by the score, sure, the two return TDs were technically the difference. But if you think the defensive gameplan in the 2nd half would have been the same if we were only up 17-3 when the Bengals offense first took the field, I think that's wrong. Up by 4 touchdowns, you let them score 8 minute touchdowns if they want, they're basically conceding the game if they do that.

Also, look at this way: We beat the Bengals, who beat the Ravens, who beat the Jets, who beat us. So who's better? Is there any way at all to tell after just two games? Declaring us to miss the playoffs is no less premature and reactionary than someone predicting 16-0 after game 1.

I know what you are saying....I just NEED to see us win at San Diego,Pittsburgh or even Miami would give me relief...right now I really don't know what will transpire by January if they continue to have brain farts away from Glllette

I'll give you that. One of the hallmarks of the great Patriot teams was going on the road and beating teams many thought were better than they were. Even in 2007 when we were undefeated we had some tough road games that we went in and dominated (or at least won). I would like to see that as well, before I declare this team a contender for a championship. I still see them as a playoff contender regardless however.

This thread is about Revis leaving and the Jets defense playing better, a fact that seems to be undeniable based on the results of the game. If you care to argue the point, argue the POINT. Don't force your moral objection to the poster on a thread where that's not the issue.

Correlation doesn't prove causation. The 2nd half was not a case of "Revis comes out, Jets play better". It was a case of the Jets adjusting their defense while our slot receiver and RB vanished.

This is not the one post that made me say it. It is the cumulative effect of this type of thread and this type poster of which the OP is the ring leader. There is minority of very vocal poster who seem to enjoy the losses and pointing out the flaws of the BB, Brady and the Patriots and whom even in wins will post how we were "lucky" or the other team isn't really that good. They predict the Patriots are going to lose before the game and then boast about being right afterward. These folks make me sick.

I don't mind the actual Jet fans who come in and trash talk the Patriots, but folks like the OP are the worst form of troll on any message board.

This has been his MO for as long as I can remember. He's a troll or a very miserable person, either way best to ignore.

Thats cool with anyone who thinks they can win the SB and I respect that.

MY opinion however revolves around seeing if they can play 4 quarters against top competition and win against teams and loud fans in another stadium before we deem them capable of winning it all, other than speculation, there is really nothing much to base it on in terms of the team being able to get there.

I like the youth on this defense, but the fact remains they are young and need time to mature....I would say 2 years to fully develop IF they can develop into good talent that is.

I expect this young defense to not have some problems all season and cost some games,I am not worried about the offense as long as Brady gets his act together and realizes there is more than Moss and Welker out there.

I am with you and totaly agree Patriotsfaninpa. Revis going injured at the half was the worst thing to happen for the Patriots. I know we had the lead and played one great half,,but his injury got the Jets to probably play harder and i also think that we changed the Playbook from that moment . No way at half time did i think we would lose the game,,and thank God i am no gambler,,coz i would have bet my house on Pats winning,,especially after that great one hand Touchdown by Moss.
But we seemed to play a bit more conservative and predicatable in the 3rd quarter and just gave the Jets confidence. Still believe we will learn a lot from this defeat and go on to finish 11-5. Abdul.

Jets are now 2-0 without Revis, crazy.

However, while their defense certianly looked better without him against the Pats, his absence was noticeable against the Dolphins.

He's not expected to start @ Buffalo this week either. Will they make it 3-0 without their best player?

It's Buffalo, so probably.

They're only going to get better once Pace and Holmes are playing and Revis is back healthy.

Consider me worried.

Duh ... you practice more for what you know than what you don't know. How many backup players come in and have good games because nobody was prepared for them.

Since when does losing a star player help you win?

Yeah, I have to agree, it's been a very long time since that happened. Probably pretty close to ten years I'd guess.

cassssselllllllllllll

Ummm...Losing Warren,Bodden and Faulk should make Pats alot better?

Actually, Woodhead and BJGE looked pretty good in the running game.

Now if the defense would only apply that theory. :bricks:

Without Revis they are now 3-0.

Calvin Pace and Santonio Holmes haven't even played yet either.

Jets looking tough for sure. Need to figure out how to keep an opponent under 20 pts, win on the road, and win division games. Tomorrow an important game.

Hey, did you guys know that we lost to the Jets in Week 2?

Only normal fans don't suck up everything thier team does and thinks nothing is bad....try and be objectionable for once
Well, you must know what you are talking about as I don't know any fan more objectionable than you.

But you are wrong about what fans of a team do. They do not make up dumb stuff to trash their team. People who support their team are called fans of that team. People who constantly invent things are called something...not sure what. In this case, your idea that Brady has to stop throwing most of his passes to Moss is in your own mind, if you would bother to check where he actually throws his passes and find that most to receivers not named Moss.

But then, facts aren't exactly the forte of internegators.

Have you even stopped to think why all your threads are rated the way they are? Just consider what your peers think of you general body of work.

Then go buy your Jets banner or whatever team you think is better than the Pats. Nothing worse than a fair weather fan. "They're undefeated. I LOVE THEM!!!!. Oops. They're only 2-1. THEY SUCK!!!!"

Sheesh.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Without Revis they are now 3-0.

Calvin Pace and Santonio Holmes haven't even played yet either.

The reverse superstar effect will kick in, all the players will think they dont have to do as much with these two players back and will subconsciously all take a step backward
