From Brandon Jacobs Reportedly Will Ask Giants for Trade -- NFL FanHouse
"Brandon Jacobs, the disgruntled New York Giants running back will reportedly meet with Giants' management on Monday and ask to be traded, according to the Bergen Record's Vinny DiTrani. The trade request does not come as a surprise, considering Ahmad Bradshaw has supplanted Jacobs as the Giants' feature runner....Even though Jacobs has the potential to still be a helpful running back to many teams, his salary and temper remain big problems. The Giants gave Jacobs $13 million in guaranteed money in a four-year, $25 million extension before the 2009 season. Jacobs, 28, had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2007 and 2008, but has been injured and far less productive since 2009."

In this uncapped year, his salary for this year doesn't put the Pats into a hole, and in 2011 and 2012 he's scheduled to make more reasonable amounts of $4.65 and $4.9 million, respectively.

I think, given the Pats' struggles at RB, that this guy could be a big help. He doesn't have a ton of miles on the tread, because the Giants have employed several running backs over the years. His last three seasons he's had 202, 219, and 224 carries. That's not a ton.

I think he could be a very nice fit for this team for the next three seasons, and I think the salary is reasonable for 2011 and 2012. I don't know what the Giants would be looking for, but I wonder if the Pats could maybe deal, say, a 4th round pick for him. ;)

Bad idea. He hasn't run with power since 2008. We get the Giants on TV all the time here in CT, and the reason why he's #2 is because he refuses to play the bruising style that earned him his fame and fortune. He's also a talker, and loves to provide bulletin board material to the other team. Boston media would eat him alive. Forget it.

He's gone downhill quickly from what I've seen. He's almost to the point where it looks like he's tip-toeing behind the line.

Why not? In 2007 and 2008 he averaged 5.0 ypc each of those seasons. He's a pretty good running back.

1) its 2010 and
2) its 2010.
Jacobs has been terrible that last few season, I watch a lot of Giants games trust me. He hasn't been the same. Id take McGahee over him at this point.

You know when I read that article earlier I was so tempted to make a 'Lets trade for this malcontent' parody post. I wish I had now.

exactly what hes doing, people here hated Maroney for it. Imagine Maroney with less speed in a bigger body.

I don't know. Think of all the added expenses that the Pats would have to add by acquiring expenses. They would have at least double or triple the security of the lower bowl of the stadium to retreive helmets from the stands.

I'd pass.

Lets get the drunk WR from SD too

I don't think the Pats will trade for a guy that is now being recognized more for his off field antics than his on field play. Especially considering the amount of $$ he is set to earn.

He lost his starting job for a reason and he only plays a VERY limited number of snaps for a reason... he's just not that good anymore.

He's one of those backs that require perfect blocking to be effective. He doesn't have a great burst, so if the blocking isn't there immediately, he's easy to tackle.

Get a real offensve coordinator instead and the current problems will heal themselves.

You confuse and frighten me with your modern terms. I do not know this word "coordinator" that you speak of. I am but a caveman.

No please. No please very much.

The guy might be done.
He was average last season and got beat out.
Are you getting for current and future play or the name on the jersey?
