Coaching Staff

As long as I am b!tching about yesterday, let's take a look at BB and his miniature coaching staff. He does not have an offensive coordinator or a defensive coordinator and has stretched himself thin to cover the lack of coaching talent on his staff. The QB coach is the defaco offensive coordinator, so when TB has issues like yesterday he cannot address those issues without taking time away from his other duties. His defacto defensive coordinator is new this year and has decided to forego a career in rocket science for a career in X's and O's. I am not sure if I should be thankful that he is on our staff or for the fact he isn't designing missles for the government.

Twice BB got schooled by Ryan. Last year we all made excuses about Brady being rusty and Welker not being on the field. There are no excuses left to be used, something is happening in Foxboro that isn't what we have come to expect. Does BB really expect a rookie and a second year player to defend the leagues best wide recievers? Does he really expect TBC to be our pass rush, I mean TBC can barely spell his own name, never mind use his imagination to rush the passer. His best offensive lineman is holding out, and his best defensive lineman is playing in Oakland.

This reminds me of the BB of Cleveland. The guy who knew more than everybody and the guy whose success was over shadowed by his lack of drafting skills. For all of the genius talk, he seemed pretty ordinary yesterday.

Belichick should not be exempt from criticism. I know too many people here feel like he is untouchable because of the three championships. But really, those championships are getting further in the distance every year. What is it now, six years.

If we're losing, it ultimately has to fall the head coach. It wasn't like we lost on some freak play. We got outplayed and outcoached.

McDaniels didn't become QB coach until 2004, there was no QB coach under Weiss after Rehbein died.

Why bring up Cleveland, with regards to the coaching staff given the exceptional success they have had. He had a great staff there. One loss doesn't give you the right to make senseless allegations unless the likes of Nick Saban, Pat Hill Kirk Ferentz, Jim Schwartz, Ozzie Newsome, et al, suddenly never were with Belichick in Cleveland.

Each grouping of players has a salary ceiling. So does the coaching staff. Thus ...with BB's top 3 salary, only enough left for interns

Personally, I think that Belichick need top coordinators and coaches that he can trust. Surely, there are coordinators and coaches SOMEWHERE who would be willing to follow the orders of Belichick!

Seriosuly, Belichick handicaps the team by trying to OC, DC, HC and GM. He some reasonable coaches and a great personnel guy. But Belichick could use some grativas on the coaching staff. We just need a couple of more top level coaches.

BB left Cleveland universally despised by the city and the press, and he had a full coaching staff back then. He has one the smallest, if not the smallest, coaching staffs in football with potentially one of the top 4 teams in football. I brought up Cleveland because BB ran everything there, told his staff what to do and when to do it. It was part of why he is considered a failure there, because he couldn't delegate. I remember the fluff pieces that were written when he was hired here about how he learned from his mistakes and how he knows how to delegate.

You can argue that the draft is a coin flip, or that a game can turn on one bad call. You ca't argue that a small coaching staff is better than a larger coaching staff.

Cleveland always hates it's coaches. Belichick had a ton of excellent coaches in Cleveland; again, argue against O'Brien or some other coach all you want but make the arguments reasonable. Picking on his coaches in Cleveland is not reasonable; quite honestly it's ignorant to the excellent group he'd assembled there.
