Patriots are now officially in the mix for Vincent Jackson the rumor is he will be a long term replacement for Moss. Vikings are still in hunt & now the Patriots are in it... Pats are making bid today & Vikings will need to at least match it.

Jackson is better then Moss right now & the next 5-7 years with Brady will be a big time force in AFC. Vikings & now pats going after Jackson (Welker / Moss / Jackson / Hernandez) oh my that might be a real force plus Moss playing for contract

Topics were made on JetsInsider and FinsHeaven about. No clue if this guy is credible, but he did report the Revis signing before everyone else. He's some WFAN personality. Also reporting Revis is out 3-5 weeks. Will find out very soon if it's BS or not. Take it as you will...

I will wet myself if we sign Vincent Jackson as a long term replacement or compliment to Randy Moss.

Please God let it be true.

Hmmmmm. Can't we get Branch from Seattle instead?

Can he rush the passer?

(someone had to say it)

He is a heck of a receiver. I find it too good to be true, but I'll silently hold out hope.

This incareceratedboob dude gets one thing right (Revis ends hold out) and everything else wrong. Please....do the Pats strike you as the type of team that would do this?

Why do I feel like this would turn out bad for the Patriots?

Okay, thought about it. The Patriots already have enough offensive weapons, yet they're playing like idiots and not utilizing their matchups. They're already trying to integrate Tate, Gronk, Hernandez, and Edelman, and all of these guys really have talent (not the "talent" that every fanbase THINKS exists but doesn't- these guys really can be good.) My guess is, if they get Jackson, they would probably trade Moss. I see too many playmakers and only one ball.

This won't happen anyway.

Make that two of us. Just doesn't excite me for some reason. Maybe I'm just completely bummed from the loss today.

By the way, it won't happen.

We have extra picks, including an extra first and our #1 receiver is on the last year of his contract so I don't find it TOO crazy.

I'd rather have this guy....

So the Patriots won't pay their good citizen left guard, but they'd shell out cash AND picks for a problem child from a conference rival?

It may be true, but I'll view it with skepticism until I see it happen.

When did Jerry Jones become the owner/GM of the Pats?

My guess is Belichick is getting back at Brad Childress for the Percy Harvin comment. Then again, Percy Harvin already did Belichick's work for him.

This.

Probably jacking up the price of Vjax to hurt the Vikings to get back at Chilly.

When did you become the authority on the Logan Mankins deal Deus Irae? I thought your mode of attacking other posters surrounded not knowing the finite details of the negotiation.

If we land Vincent Jackson I'll be pleased as he's an exceptional talent. If we don't land him and drive the level of compensation the Chargers will receive then I am also fine with that. It's also my preference that we re-sign Mankins but that deal doesn't look imminent.

Vincent Jackson won't help Minnesota one iota given 4's QB play of recent times.

Mankins has been a good citizen. Jackson got a 3 game suspension for violation of the league's personal conduct policy:

He pleaded guilty in February to driving under the influence, his second conviction.

San Diego Chargers' Vincent Jackson suspended 3 games by NFL, source says - ESPN

Now, regarding the negotiations, and according to Kraft himself:

“We did make offers and we don’t normally do this, but I want our fan base to be focusing on our team, not mis-reports or mis-perceptions that are put out. (Our offers) would have allowed him to be paid very well, which we felt was appropriate. I know it was comparably to what (Jets center) Nick Mangold made. I’m not sure his people felt it was appropriate. I understand there is a back and forth with negotiations. But at no time did we have a deal with Logan Mankins.”

BostonHerald.com - Blogs: Rap Sheet Blog Archive Patriots owner Robert Kraft addresses Mankins report: “We’ve never had a deal.”

In order to get a deal with Jackson, they'd have to meet his price AND send something to San Diego. In the meantime, they've not met Mankins' price, whatever it might be. I'm not sure where you came up with the notion that I

A.) attacked another poster (I didn't. I merely expressed skepticism about a report that the OP himself isn't sure is credible.)

B.) made any claim regarding knowing the "finite details of the negotiation".

Do I even have to say it?

I mean, I like Tate and WW2 as much as anyone does, but yowsah!

Brady, has two very good TE's the best WR in the NFL in Moss, the best slot WR in Welker, and two good young WR's in Edelman, and Tate, if the pats still need to trade for a WR then they over paid for Brady, cause any QB can move the football with dose kind of WR's

my point is Brady, has more talent to throw to then he has ever had they just faced the best D in the NFL if the pats are going to make a trade then it needs to be for a run stoping DE, a pass rushing OLB or a CB that can get turn overs

I'm slowly coming around to seeing why you're generally disliked on this board. I don't want to agree with these people as it's obvious you're an intellectual with the ability to articulate relevant and thought provoking commentary, but I'm beginning to understand. You've been nothing but dismissive or combative to opinions that conflict with your own regarding the Mankins situation.

I thought you were perceptive enough to realize that "not having a deal" doesn't mean a deal wasn't tabled. Kraft intimated the offer to Mankins was of a similar nature to Mangold. Taken at his word, that reads that the Patriots were more than willing to pay their good little guard.

As for Jackson, perhaps you'd like to reference other "problem children" the Patriots have head business dealings with?

Stop pretending that you don't attack posters with your condescending and dismissive nature. It's unbecoming.

This makes sense now. The Patriots weren't happy with Cromartie's Miami Heat comment, so they're trying to build their own:

Moss is LeBron
Welker is Wade
Jackson is Bosh

Brady is growing out his hair to become Ronnie Seikaly

Wilfork is Shaq (2005 version)

That's true for this year.

The whole thing works much better when Moss opens up the field for the other receivers, TEs and backs. Brady won't have Moss 4 or 5 years from now. He could have Jackson for that long.

Anyway, I don't think it's going to happen. None of my pipe dreams ever come true.
